Dear Library Member,
A few things of note this week!
By the time you receive this on Sunday, you'll have two days left to come and browse the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale. It ends Monday, so come and see what bargains might appeal to you. All proceeds go toward supporting the Library's programming and materials budgets.
On Monday, November 18th, local educator and author Scott Mazzella will be here to talk about his book chronicling Superstorm Sandy's aftermath. Armed with a camera he photographed Long Beach Island as the storm hit, and then chronicled the aftermath and the lingering effects of Sandy upon the Long Beach Island community. We encourage you to come and listen to what is sure to be an engaging talk from a local educator.
Lastly, Friday, December 20th, the library will be closing for a Staff Emergency Preparedness Day.
We will be going over what to do in an active shooter situation, reviewing fire preparedness, and how to bring the library back to functionality in the wake of a disaster like Sandy.
Last time we were caught unawares, and for emergencies like Sandy and other events we might face, we want to be ready.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but we think it is worthwhile to have a plan of action in place for our staff should such events strike.
Regards,
