This Week At Your Library: 10/7
|
Openings at OBPL, Library Projects, and More! |
Dear Library Member,
The leaves outside the library are starting to change color and float to the ground in the Fall wind. As we prepare for cooler months, we are also preparing for excellent programming and looking forward to next year and some exciting projects. For the latter, we need your help!
In terms of programs, come to this Wednesday's Fall Gardening program with Christine Rose of the Rutgers Master Gardeners.
Thursday turns us back to one of the most infamous days in American history as Arthur M. Gladstone, USMC Retired, tells us how he survived Pearl Harbor.
We need your help on a project: the Library is seeking grants to benefit the community. One such grant is for a community makerspace - a hands-on place for learning about crafts and new technologies. As part of the process, we need to know what you might want to find in an Old Bridge Library makerspace. Here are some ideas, but feel free to be imaginative and give us your ideas and feedback.
Makerspaces are a new trend which can contain all manner of concepts, and we need to know what you might want to see. Digital media creation? 3D printing? Handcrafts? Arduino and basic programming? Practical kitchen-hacking? Robotics? Micro-gardening?
We can't accommodate every idea, but we want to see which ideas work best together across a wide range of ages. Give us your thoughts, and we will do our best to meet the needs of the community!
Also, as a note, we have two positions open here at the Library: One overseeing our Marketing and Graphics, and the other assisting our Librarians in serving the public. Click here for full details. Regards,

The reflections and histories of men and women throughout the world are contained in books.... America's greatness is not only recorded in books, but it is also dependent upon each and every citizen being able to utilize public libraries. Terence Cooke, Archbishop of New York 1968-1983
