Greetings!

Thank you for being a member of the Old Bridge Public Library! Without your support and feedback, we could not be the library we are today. But our work is just beginning!

With over 1600 survey responses gathered over the summer, we are on our way to becoming the Old Bridge Public Library of the 21st Century that the public wants. Thanks to all who gave us their feedback. This is a great start to our planning for the the years ahead.

Part of our mission, and one of the reasons I became a librarian, is connecting people with resources that are immediately useful. Thus, I'm happy to note that in the newsletter you'll see exciting news on free public domain ebooks and audiobooks accessible via our catalog, as well as other works accessible via the Internet for your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

We hope you enjoy them!

Library Director
Old Bridge Library Welcomes Our New Assistant Director
Nancy Cohen now leads our Librarian Staff!
After a wide-ranging search for an Assistant Director to oversee our Adult and Youth Services Librarians, the Old Bridge Library Board of Trustees has hired Nancy Cohen to the position. Nancy has worked here at Old Bridge Public Library since 2007, helping the public and running our Second Saturdays concerts; she previously managed private sector libraries in New York City. As Director, I'm excited to see a hardworking staff member who is already familiar with the Old Bridge community rise to a position of greater responsibility. Nancy will be instrumental to the Library and the Old Bridge community as we chart a fresh course for OBPL.  Contact Nancy

Project Gutenburg@OBPL:
New eBooks & Audiobooks at the Library
New eBooks via the Old Bridge Library Catalog
Thanks to the hard work of librarians in Colorado, many of the Libraries of Middlesex County now have catalog access to many public domain classics found on Project Gutenburg. Books as well as audiobooks can be found by going to the Library's catalog and entering "project gutenberg" as a keyword search. At present 466 classics have been added to our catalog, with no due date or waiting lists as we experience with commercial publishers. Rediscover great literature wherever you are with these new additions! Visit the Old Bridge Library Catalog

Also, even more always available ebooks can be found through eLibraryNJ. These public domain books span a variety of topics, but are not part of our catalog. They likewise do not have due dates and they are always available to be downloaded and read.  Public Domain eBooks on ELibraryNJ

Geodes! Crystals! Fossils!
What treasures do you have?

On August 3rd from 2-4pm we hope to show off interesting items from underground. You're free to view people's geological treasures, but you can also bring your own specimen to be looked at by our guest speaker; we'd also love to have you book a table to show your whole collection if you have the rocks or minerals you'd like to share. Tables are free to be booked if you have interesting minerals to display!

Ms. Allison Tuckman, Geology Instructor at Old Bridge High School will be here to answer questions about your specimens.

Contact Librarian Juley Rodwogin for details and to book a table!
