Behind the Scenes Tour of 77 Maple Street

Members of DevelopSpringfield's Partnership Investment Program and other supporters were invited for an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the former Female Seminary at 77 Maple Street, a historic property purchased by DevelopSpringfield for rehabilitation in the fall of 2014.


Attendees were provided with the opportunity to walk through the building and view preliminary conceptual plans as well as the opportunity to provide input on planning, design and future marketing of this important site. 


The building at 77 Maple Street is planned for rehabilitation into professional offices together with the historic Ansel Phelps house at 83 Maple Street and the former carriage house and garages at 69 Maple Street. This unique collection of properties will be collectively known as the Lower Maple Business Park.   


Exterior rehabilitation of 83 Maple Street is now complete, and interior work is underway with the goal of completion in early 2016.  Dietz and Company Architects are currently developing plans for 77 Maple Street with rehabilitation work expected to begin this fall.

DevelopSpringfield Presented with 
Award from Springfield Preservation Trust

DevelopSpringfield was among a dozen honorees acknowledged on May 20 by the Springfield Preservation Trust (SPT) for recent efforts toward restoring and preserving historic properties.
We were recognized for the exterior restoration work completed at 83 Maple Street. The SPT is particularly interested in this property as it neighbors 77 Maple Street, a property we recently purchased from the SPT for redevelopment following some early restoration work completed by the Trust.

ReGreen Springfield Sprucing Up
DevelopSpringfield Owned Property

We were pleased to have the opportunity recently to collaborate with ReGreen Springfield who provided plantings and landscaping skills that helped beautify a lot owned by DevelopSpringfield on Pine Street in Maple High Six Corners. 


In 2013 DevelopSpringfield purchased several residential lots in the tornado impacted Central Street corridor with a goal of preparing them for redevelopment into owner-occupied housing. Some of the properties are currently under redevelopment by Viva Development and the North End Housing Initiative. The Pine Street location will be among lots available for future development. In the meantime, the plantings have created an attractive, environmentally sustainable backdrop that will help jump-start tree growth on the site.
