We Love DPNs
There is something wonderful about unwrapping a new set of DPNs and while many knitters like to work projects in the round using the Magic Loop method, we are huge fans of DPNs. You can knit everything from hats and jumper sleeves to socks and toys. They are so flexible and downright handy.
Most of our ranges have DPNS, so if you are a fan of wood or if you prefer metal or carbon fibre, we have a set of these glorious pins for you in a wide range of sizes.
Commit To Knit Month
Our friends at UK Hand Knitting are planning a big campaign called Commit To Knit running from now until the end of June and they need your help.
They know how many of you like to knit or crochet for charities to help them raise awareness or much-needed funds. So they have got together with the publishers of Simply Knitting and Simply Crochet to bring you a special supplement of patterns you can knit for a number of charities to celebrate Commit To Knit Month. The supplement will be available from 23rd May included with these magazines.
UK Hand Knitting is also coordinating events across the UK on Saturday 18th June which is Worldwide Knitting In Public Day so if you belong to a knitting group why not get involved.
You can find out more information on the UK Hand Knitting website.
New Directions In Sock Knitting
by Ann Budd
This book landed on our desk a month ago and we have been dying to tell you about it. Ann Budd worked for many years at Interweave Press and is a very accomplished designer especially when it comes to socks.
In this book Ann takes us through 18 innovative new sock designs 'knitted from every which way'. She has included top down, toe up alongside all manner of different ways of fashioning heels and toes. Ann has even included one that starts form the instep.
This really is a book that every sock knitter should invest in because it really takes you on a journey through construction and technique. You simply won't look at socks in the same way again.
