New Kid on the Block

There are so many lovely patterns for children out at the moment so we thought we would showcase a few of our favourites.

It's always rewarding to knit for kids - satisfying knits but not the big commitment of an adult garment. Why not try out a new technique or a stitch you have been itching to explore?

The little sheep bounding around the yoke of Julia Farwell-Clay's cardigan are delightful and we love the optimistic colours in Nancy Queen's crochet dress.  And don't forget the boys.  Sue Batley Kyle's rugged jumper is perfect for the outdoors.

Love Your Yarn Shop

Yarn Shop Day is fast approaching on 2nd May 2015 - a day to celebrate all the wonderful thing that your local yarn shop has to offer.

The brainchild of Aceville publishing, who own magazines like Let's Knit, to show support for the many retailers across the UK, Yarn Shop Day is now in its second year. In 2014 more than 160 shops took part.

A number of famous designers support the campaign and will be popping in to shops such as Martin Storey and Debbie Bliss.

Where would we be without our local bricks and mortar shops?  The expertise they share with us, the knitting groups they encourage and the amazing workshops many of them host are there to help each and every one of us.  So why not share the love and visit yours?

You can find a map of participating stores here.

KnitPro is supporting this year's event with a limited number of taster packs available to participating shops.  If you are a retailer who would like a pack, please email us knitproeu@gmail.com

Knooking to Your Heart's Content

If you receive our newsletter regularly you will know what huge fans we are of knooking. It's a hybrid craft combining the  immediacy of crochet with knitted textures and fabrics and is quite addictive.

The number of patterns available has been a bit limited up until now but this is all about to change with the publication of a wonderful new book by Veronika Hug whose patterns you may have seen on Ravelry.

Veronika has put together a tempting collection of patterns for the outdoors and indoors including, hats and scarves for all ages as well as fun toys, tablet covers and out favourite, chair leg covers.  Each project is  clearly explained with a great section on basic techniques.

We have a copy of this essential knooking book to give away this month or you can buy the book here.
