Today is our seniors' last day of classes.  All week, we've been marking "lasts" - final Improv performance, last track meet, end of AP exams, final Morning Meeting for seniors.  And then, today, their last day of school and Prom.

We still have the major senior events still to come:  Senior Luncheon next week and Graduation the one following.  We will send the Class of 2014 off, first with personal speeches filled with anecdotes, memories, and undoubtedly a tear or two (on their end and ours); then with the formal Graduation ceremony, including the best part of any St. Francis Graduation - the students speaking for themselves.

This Class of 2014 is filled with scholars, artists, scientists, dreamers, athletes, actors, dancers, laughers, criers, debaters, friends.  The 34 of them are ready to take the next step and take on the world.  We have loved our four years with them and we will greatly miss them.  Godspeed, Class of 2014.  Wyverns forever!

Track

In their final event of the season, the Wyverns took on the Class A Region 3 Track Meet at Green Co.  Jewel Bailey was the lone competitor for St. Francis, competing in both the discus and shot put.  Congratulations to the track and field athletes on their season!

Tennis

St. Francis was well represented in this year's state tennis tournament!    Eva Borders '18 continued her dominant run that began in last week's Regional tournament, which she won.  As a #5 seed in the state tournament, she swept through the first two rounds with 6-0; 6-0, advancing to her second consecutive Sweet 16.  She won that match this morning 6-1; 6-1 to advance to the Elite 8 against the #4 seed; that match is being held as we send this newsletter out!  She has also been named to the All-State Team.  Go, Eva!

Gray Thurstone '14 couldn't seem to get loose in the first set but stayed close and got up a break in the second set before his opponent stepped it up another notch as Gray went down 6-3; 6-3.  Jamie Anderson '15 played a tough opening-round opponent but pulled out the win 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (13-11).  Jamie's second match was against the tournament's overall #4 seed.  He fought hard but eventually fell 6-3; 6-4.  Congratulations to Gray and Jamie on outstanding seasons.

Spring Sports Banquet

Please make sure to RSVP for this year's Spring Sports Banquet at tbutler@stfrancisschool.org.  The banquet is scheduled for this Tuesday, May 20th, at 6:00 p.m.. at the Downtown Campus.
