This week brought excitement once again with the weather. Snow is a regular conversation with the children at carpool and walking through it has made carpool that much more fun.We decided to hold class on Friday, March 14 instead of the scheduled conference day. Teachers will be sending home the conference forms with your child at the end of next week. These are the same forms that they used in the fall and are updated with current information. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about the conference forms.

I want to remind everyone that admissions deadlines have come and gone. To be sure that you have secured your spot for next year, you can check in with me or Richard Butcher. As you read in Alexandra's article in Thoughts! this week, we have very few slots remaining in each class.

 You may have noticed pictures in the main hallway of children at play. We are in the beginning stages of a preschool-wide documentation piece on the importance of child-initiated inquiry. We will be adding pictures next week of examples of Piaget's Schema Theory. A Schema is an organization of thought or behavior that is characterized by repeated actions and patterns in children's play, according to Van Wiik and Nikolien in Getting Started with Schemas; Revealing the Wonderful World of Children's Play. Our teachers have been very busy gathering classroom examples of children in investigation of transporting, transforming, trajectory, rotation and circulation, enclosing and enveloping, connecting and disconnecting. Through our reflection of our children at play, we are able to consider children's ideas about what they know and how they think. Stay tuned for more insights into our journey of learning along with the children at St. Francis Preschool.

All camps will be of a one-week duration, and you may choose between three daily options for your child: attend for all 5 days, come for 3 days (MWF), or ease in with 2 days (TR).  The link for camp registration can be found here, and you can read the full camp descriptions here .   

Our camps are open to children ages 2 (as of August 1st) through rising first graders. Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. - Noon.  

Early morning (7:15 - 9:00), Lunch Bunch (Noon - 1:00 p.m.), and Extended Day (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) options are also available. All Preschool summer camp sessions will be held on the Harrods Creek Campus.

  At around these times each day, traffic will be stopped on U.S. 42 and the entrance/exit to the Snyder Freeway for anywhere from five to 20 minutes.
