Please remember that for any changes to your child's schedule, written instructions (e.g., note, email) need to be submitted to your child's teacher, Renee, or David.

Changes can include a different person picking up, medications, after school playdates, visitors, etc.

Thank you.
From Renee

In one of our Fours classes, there has been quite a bit of chatter about their families.  Their teacher (Ms. Alice) decided to expand on their interest in family and create puppets.  Each child counted the appropriate number of sticks to represent each family member.  For the next step, they were asked to write their name on each stick. To complete the puppets, the children drew pictures of everyone in their family.  For some, this included their grandparents, pets, and extended family.  In the end, everyone will tell a story about their families, real or make believe.Taking the children's interest and expanding on their ideas created a project that they really cared about and connected with.  This is just one of the many ways that our teachers connect learning to the interest of their classes.

We had wonderful conversation and the opportunity to answer questions about our move at the Preschool Coffee earlier this week.  Thank you to Kelli Schmidt, Liam's mom, for all of your help with this event.  If you were unable to attend, we hope you can make the Open House on November 19, at 9:00 a.m.  All Preschool families are welcome to stop by the office or call for information relating to our move anytime.  There are so many wonderful benefits that our Preschoolers will have an opportunity to enjoy at Goshen.  I know each of you cares deeply about the education and experience your child has each day; that's why you're here.  I hope that you will come and take a look to the future of St. Francis Preschool with us.

Thank you to all of the Parents that attended the "Big Sing" today.  The children absolutely love seeing you in the audience!

 History Speaker and Reception

Thursday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m.

 St. Francis -- Downtown Campus

Barbara Perry is a Senior Fellow and Co-Chair of the Presidential Oral History Center. Her new book is Camelot at 50: Rose Kennedy and the Creation of a Political Legend.

You are invited to hear UVA history professor and author Barbara Perry speak about Rose Kennedy, matriarch of the Kennedy family.  Barbara is originally from Louisville and in her bio she describes a political event in Louisville that sparked her interest in the Kennedy clan and politics. All are welcome!

"I used to tease my dear mother that she turned me into a political scientist at the tender age of four! In October 1960 she loaded me and my two older brothers into our '56 Chevy for a trip to downtown Louisville, Kentucky, to attend a presidential campaign rally and see her new political hero--Senator John F. Kennedy. We arrived early and stood right in front of the podium where the handsome candidate spoke and reached over to shake my brother's hand. I was hooked! From that point on, I adored politics and began a life-long fascination with the Kennedy clan. On family vacations, I would urge my parents to stop at all the historic sights and memorials dedicated to JFK and his family. From Boston, to Hyannis Port, to Palm Beach, to Georgetown, to Arlington Cemetery, we made the pilgrimage.

On a high school field trip to Washington, D.C., I sat outside the White House and vowed to my mother that someday I would come back to work in the nation's capital. I did--from internships to fellowships--in all three branches of government. With a master's degree from Oxford and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, I became a specialist on the presidency, the Supreme Court, and, of course, the Kennedys. In addition to serving as a Supreme Court Fellow, I have produced five books on the justices, appointments, and civil rights and liberties. My book on First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy continues to prompt media inquiries, especially comparing Mrs. Obama to "Jackie O". I have completed a biography of Rose Kennedy, based on her recently released papers at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston and a collection of her letters that I have acquired. It is gratifying to know that Rose Kennedy: The Life and Times of a Political Matriarch has been recommended by the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and Vanity Fair."
