The second week of Preschool can sometimes be more difficult than the first. Children need the gift of time to become comfortable with the new routines. Our Preschool teachers are very experienced at supporting children and helping them with the transition. A few ways you can support your child with his/her transitions are: establishing a morning routine that isn't rushed, using carpool to ease separation, and reminding your little one that you will be back before lunch or after rest time. The idea is to set up a predictable pattern that is reassuring to your child. Very soon, routines will be established and those morning separations will be smooth once again.
Over the summer some of our teachers read Teach Your Children Well by Madeline Levine, as a part of our summer reading. Her book is a powerful examination of parenting children in today's world. She leads the reader through the developmental stages of children in school and the challenges that parents encounter. If you are interested in forming a discussion group for this book, please email me -- I'd love to hear from you!
All the best,
Renee

LETS DO THIS!!!
We have officially kicked off our 5-Week Annual Fund Drive. Last year we finished with 98% parent participation and I know we can reach the 100% mark this year! You should have received a pledge envelope in your child's backpack earlier this week. Please get those back to the office as soon as possible! If you did not receive one we have extras at the front desk. THANK YOU in advance for your support and generosity! |

The Jewish Community Center and Center Stage are hosting an event titled Louisville's Got Talent. St. Francis School's Improv team, "Currently Out of Order," auditioned last weekend and was chosen to be in the top 20 competing for first place on Sunday, September 8th, at 2:00 p.m. We need your help! Audience members will be able to vote for their favorite teams, and 50% of the total final score will be based on those votes! We would love to see you there, and while you are wiping the tears of laughter from your eyes, please vote for our team. There are only 250 tickets available, so we encourage you to purchase ASAP. Tickets are $7 for kids and $10 for adults. You can purchase tickets by phone at (502) 459-0660, or online by clicking here. We hope to see you there! Hilarity will ensue. Trust us. | |

Really, Really Big Thanks!
Thank you to the Parent Association for providing volunteers at carpool during the first week of Preschool. Your assistance allowed our teachers to dedicate time to children entering the classroom. We also want to thank you for the delicious lunch that was provided for us at our first meeting.

Big Sings
Every month we hold an all-Preschool community sing in our Big Room that all parents are invited to attend. Big Sings normally begin at 9:15 and last about 20 minutes or so. We always look forward to seeing you there!

Family Information Forms !!!
We have had a terrific response from our Preschool community (thank you!), and we are almost two-thirds of the way to having all the forms in.
If you have not yet had the chance to complete one for your family, we ask that you please do so here.
If you are encountering a problem accessing the form, please email David in the Preschool office, and he will resolve the issue.
Thank you!
Deadline: Friday, September 6th!!!
