After four days of faculty meetings (including our now annual "Three-Campus Extravaganza" gathering of all staff, complete with team-building activities!), orientations, schedules, class rosters, supplies, classroom preparation and much, much more, we finally got to welcome the real "stars," our students, back to school this Tuesday! It was the usual cacophonous blitz we've come to expect, with lots of squeals, hugs, adrenaline, shared stories - and lots and lots of smiles : ).
It really has been a wonderful week on the Goshen Campus. There have been a few "bumps," which is to be expected, and you will see some articles describing some herein, but the overriding theme has been happy kids and teachers excited for a fresh new start; in short,
Joy, one of the key words in our mission statement. And I also found it impressive that we had 100% attendance on our first day! If only we could duplicate that on Picture Day (or Grandparent's Day!).
W e also had our always memorable "Welcome Back Assembly" earlier today when Alexandra and I introduced all of our new teachers and staff to the student body, complete with "fun facts" about each of them on the big screen. Who knew Carey Thornburgh was a Purdue fan (all we need is for Sarah Wallace to have company!) who loves Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches? Boos rained down on new IT Director Keith Morris as he showed off his Hoosier allegiance complete with the IU fight song (now that's just rude!). Franky Wade favors Mississippi State and is truly an island there! On the lighter side, we got to see photos of kids and pets, including Pattie Koth's daughter's horse, and beautiful artwork created by Tina Brown and Qianxin Zhu. "Oooohs and Aaaaaahs" filled the Main Amp!
We also celebrated, to the thunderous applause, the recent National Youth Art Awards for the SFS Drama Project we picked up last weekend in New York (see below). Our new students, new Student Council officers, and a new 8th Grade Class were recognized, and we saw what our new gym will look like when completed next spring. It's all very exciting, and I think the energy present will propel us to a comet-like beginning of what promises to be another fantastic school year on the Goshen Campus!
Feel free to email me with any comments, questions or suggestions.

Lower School carpool...
We need your help! Due to our growing enrollment, we have made some changes to Lower School carpool this year. Carpool riders now meet in the Main Amp right after dismissal. If you usually pick up your child(ren) in carpool, nothing will change for you (though we do ask that you remain in your car and let the teachers load your student(s) for you). If you park your car and walk in to pick up your child(ren), we ask that you please meet your child(ren) and leave the Main Amp promptly. Our primary goal is to get all students to their parents as safely and quickly as possible. As you can imagine, parents and students who congregate in the Main Amp can create noise and commotion, which can adversely affect the carpool process. We would like for the Main Amp to be a place reserved only for students in carpool and teachers on duty between 2:55 and 3:20 pm. As an alternative, the Lower School playground is a perfect place to spend time chatting and playing with friends after school. We appreciate your understanding and support. Thank you!

Family Information Forms
We have had a terrific response from our Goshen community (thank you!), and we are almost two-thirds of the way to having all the forms in.
If you have not yet had the chance to complete one for your family, we ask that you please do so here.
If you are encountering a problem accessing the form, please email Natalie in the Main Office.
Thank you!

After the office closes at 4:30 p.m., in order to enter the building, a PIN number must be entered on the key pad located just underneath the door bell. That PIN number is 9326. Once the PIN number has been entered on the key pad, a person has 30 seconds to open the door.
- This PIN number can only be used between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Please do NOT give this number to anyone other than the person(s) responsible for picking up your child from an after-school activity. NO CHILD OR STUDENT SHOULD BE GIVEN THIS PIN CODE.
- Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. anyone who wishes to enter the building should ring the bell and wait for office personnel to buzz you in.
We appreciate your cooperation.

Many thanks to all of you who collected Box Tops last year. Boxtop collecting brings almost $500 to the Parent Association and is an easy way to participate in school fundraising. Please bring your Boxtops to the Main Office.

Did you know that you can access the lunch menu and nutritional information on our website? One of the cool new features that Sage Dining Services has implemented this year is your ability to access an ingredient list that tells everything that is in a particular dish.
Click here to access the menu.
