CDC Releases Funding Opportunity for Injury 
Prevention for Tribes, States, and Territories. 

On December 7th,  2015, the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCPIC) posted the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for
CDC-RFA-CE16-1602, Core State Violence and Injury Prevention Program (Core SVIPP). The overall purpose if this funding is to: 1) decrease and prevent injury and violence related morbidity and mortality and 2) increase sustainability of injury prevention programs and practices. 

Strategies that address injury and violence prevention (IVP) through the lens of share risk and protective factors are encouraged to promote maximum impact of limited resources. Required strategies will along with NCIP priorities related to child abuse and neglect, traumatic brain injury, (TBI), motor vehicle crash injury and death, and intimate partner/sexual violence. 

So if you are needing funding for a injury prevention program and would like to focus on motor vehicle crash or safety this is the grant for you! CDC is looking to award 20 sites with the funding. Go to GRANTS.GOV for more information about the funding.

Indian Health Service 
Injury Prevention Level 1 Course

The Southern Plains TTAP Center is hosting a Injury Prevention Level 1 course with conjunction of the Indian Health Services. The course is to take place at the Southern Plains TTAP Center (5202 North Richmond Hill Drive Stillwater,OK 74078) on January 26-29, 2015. 


This 3.5 day course introduces participants to injuries as a public health problem. It addresses the principles of effective injury prevention through a combination of presentations, case studies, and group exercises. Emphasis is placed on the following topics:
  • Injury Prevention
  • Injury Data
  • Program Design and Implementation
  • Program Evaluation
  • Coalitions and Collaborations
  • Program Management
  • Marketing and Advocacy 
  • The Public Health Approach
  • Safety Education and Outreach


Who should attend?

Anyone interested in injury prevention and safety! Whether your program is transportation, transit, injury prevention, behavioral health, safety, or tribal police, you're a safety champion! This course helps safety champions move on to the next level!
