JOIN US FOR ROAD SAFETY ASSESSMENT TRAINING, June 2-3 in Wewoka, OK.
Performing effective road safety audits/assessments, (RSAs), improves safety and demonstrates to the public an agency's dedication to crash reduction. An RSA is a formal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection by an independent audit team. The RSA training provides practical information on how to conduct an RSA, select a location, and build an independent, multi-disciplinary team. The costs, time, benefits, and common myths and concerns surrounding RSAs will be discussed. Participants learn how to improve transportation safety by applying a new proactive approach. Emphasis is placed on using low cost safety improvements as well as understanding the interaction between the highway and all road users. The training includes hands-on application of the training materials, which includes information on each stage of a road safety audit and easy-to-use-prompt lists.

A road site visit will be made on the 2nd day of training.

Illinois River Stream Restoration Tour coming to Tahlequah, OK on June 16

OSU, Southern Plains Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) Center (TTAP), and the Oklahoma Conservation Commission are excited to announce the annual

Illinois River Stream Restoration Tour

on June 16 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm in and around Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

The tour will consist of 8 of the 12 sites that were restored as part of our natural stream restoration demonstrations and workshops in the summer of 2012. Many have had the opportunity to see these sites at installation. This will give everyone the opportunity to personally assess their progress (or see them for the first time!). We will also have onsite discussions on the form and function of the restorations at each of the sites. Attendance will be limited to 40 and lunch will be provided.  Lunch and transportation will be sponsored by the Southern Plains Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP)  Center.

Transportation will be leaving from Stillwater at 6:00am, and will be leaving from the main OSU-Tulsa parking lot at 7:30 am sharp on the morning of June 16. Before the tour, there will be a short introduction at the Tahlequah Armory at 9am. At the end of the day, we will leave Tahlequah at 4pm, with expected arrival in Tulsa at 5:30.  We will return to Stillwater by 7pm.

To register, please email Jason Vogel at jason.vogel@okstate.edu and Alex McLemore at alex.mclemore@okstate.edu by Friday, June 12, 2015. Earlier registration would be appreciated so that lunches can be planned accordingly.
