Implementing quality environmental documentation ~ EDC Innovation for May

Environmental documentation can be a source of delay for project development when stakeholders find National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents difficult to comprehend, they are unnecessarily lengthy, do not meet legal requirements, or omit important information. Existing recommendations and recent experience will be used to address the minimally necessary and sufficient material that comprises the NEPA document, what is considered documentation that supports (but need not be included in) the document, and what materials are important to retain for an administrative record to demonstrate project decisions were not arbitrary and capricious.

This recording of an FHWA implementing quality environmental documentation WEBINAR outlines ways transportation agencies can improve their environmental documents for construction projects.

Together, we can GROW AMERICA!

On April 29, the Administration unveiled the GROW AMERICA Act, a bold $302 billion, four-year multi-modal national vision for an aging transportation network and a rapidly growing population.  Specifically for public transportation, the GROW AMERICA Act would invest $72 billion over the next four years to address the urgent transit challenges facing our urban, suburban and rural communities.  The GROW AMERICA Act would authorize a nearly 70 percent increase in transit funding over the current level in MAP-21, the current transportation law set to expire on September 30 of this year.
