CDL Exam Prep Classes

This course provides driver license testing information for drivers who wish to have a commercial driver license (CDL).

The class will help the student prepare for the test, while providing critical information regarding driving safely, transporting cargo and passengers safely, air brakes, tank vehicles, hazardous materials, school bus, pre-vehicle inspection, combination vehicles, and more.

ArcGIS Basics I 
March 26 - March 27

This day and a half training course is designed to meet the needs of people within local governments who do not have a GIS background but find themselves working increasingly with ESRI ArcGIS software. In this condensed course, students will learn the basics of operating ArcMap 9.3 and data management within ArcCatalog. Prior knowledge of ArcMap is not necessary, and classes will be small with individual help available from the instructor. Students need some experience with internet navigation and Microsoft Excel. Students will leave the training course with knowledge to access data on their own, to create their own cartographic representations of information, and to trouble-shoot potential problems.

Motor Vehicle Crash
Motor Vehicle Crashes Up by 5 Percent    
Report by National Safety Council
Motor vehicle deaths in 2012 totaled 36,200, up 5 percent from 2011. This marks the first annual increase since 2004 to 2005, according to the National Safety Council (NSC).
"The 2012 estimate is provisional and may be revised when more data are available," according to an NSC written statement.
The total for 2012 was also up 2 percent from the 2010 figure. The annual total for 2011 was 34,600, a 2-percent decrease from 2010, according to NSC. The 2010 figure was 2-percent
lower than 2009.

Effectively using and improving safety data ~ March 27
 
A webinar sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Rural Safety in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration. 
                     

 

This presentation will highlight a wide variety of safety data issues. Topics will include a discussion of what safety data is, how we effectively use it, and some of its associated problems and limitations. The Federal Highway Administration's Roadway Safety Data Program will also be discussed, including how this program can help states improve their safety data.

The Tribal Transportation Planning Module Training Series provides modules for eleven planning topics and is designed to assist transportation professionals responsible for planning for the capital, operating, and maintenance needs on Tribal lands. The Tribal Planning Module Training Series is also designed as a resource for non-tribal planners who work with tribal agencies to improve awareness of unique tribal needs and interests.

The Tribal Transportation Planning Modules will be presented in five, one-hour webinars.  The webinar sessions will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST.
