EXHIBITION SPOTLIGHT - ART Andy Scott, Gallery Exhibit June 10th - 26th 10am - 5pm daily Hosted by Glasgow Caledonian University,64 Wooster Street, NYC. Andy Scott, renowned sculptor and creator of the Kelpies, the largest equine sculptures in the world, returns to New York with an exhibition at GCU's New York campus. Scott will be presenting twelve bronze sculptures and two larger steel pieces, together with maquettes (scale models) of some of his famous public works. Alongside will be sketches and drawings showing the process for making his landmark public figurative and equine works.
In recent years, Scott has produced some of Scotland's leading art in the public space, works in addition to the Kelpies include Arria in Cumbernauld and Ravenscraig's Steelman.
A centerpiece of the exhibit is a magnificent chess set, a collaboration between Scott, renowned silversmiths Hamilton & Inches and cabinetmakers Method Studio. The chess set was created to mark Hamilton & Inches' 150th Anniversary. In Spring 2014, the American-Scottish Foundation, in conjunction with Andy Scott and Falkirk Council, worked to bring the Kelpies maquettes to New York, where they took up residence for several weeks on the Fountain Terrace of Bryant Park.
They looked very "at home" on the Fountain Terrace and many of us wished they could stay but they had to continue their world travels. Important Links:
