What a wonderful Tartan Day Celebration we have had - Tartan Week was an even bigger celebration this year ... AND Spring is finally here.
  
A very special thank you to all who took part and helped us all enjoy such a great celebration.

BUT it isn't over yet....The American-Scottish Foundation� Tartan Month of Celebration continues through April with events taking place in New York, Washington DC and Chicago.

Several of our current projects are now on tour as ASF Arts Programming:

- in New York at Bryant Park the month long exhibit of Andy Scott's scale versions of      The Kelpies through April 22nd ... they look magnificent on the Terrace. Further background information can be found on our website.
 
 
- in Chicago - working with the Chicago Scots - stunning photographs by
Tricia Malley and Ross Gillespie of famous Scots, teamed with the sitters' favorite piece of Burns' poetry.  The exhibit entitled "as others see us", opens at 
John David Mooney's Foundation Gallery from May 7-20.

- in Washington DC - "In the Footsteps of John Muir" is currently on show

through April 28 at the Arts Club, Washington DC. Ken Paterson's stunning photographic exhibit, takes one on a journey from Scotland to California.

In addition several business focused events took place, amongst them The Waterfront Roundtable hosted by Scottish Canals in association with the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance, ASF and New York City Economic Development Corporation shared ideas and information on their common concern with waterfront regeneration.
  
The Falkirk Helix project hosted a B2B evening turning the spotlight onto the regions cultural and economic opportunities.  Scottish singer songwriter, Nina Nesbitt, who was in New York for Scotland Week, surprised guests with a special appearance and Kelpies creator Andy Scott showcased a series of limited edition photographs.
  
VisitScotland hosted a Diaspora Breakfast where they introduced upcoming events and initiatives to representatives of many Scottish-American organizations.

The Membership of the American-Scottish Foundation are invited to attend the ASF Annual General Meeting on Monday May 19th.  Information and voting forms have been mailed to the Membership. 

 

Following the meeting a reception will take place to which Friends and Guests are invited to attend.  

 

The ASF is honored to be joined by Robin Naysmith, former Scottish Government Counsellor in the USA, who will offer remarks

Prior to the Parade, as part of the ASF Bryant Park lunchtime concerts, the ASF invited
the Bonnie Brae Knight Drummers, the Pipes and Drums of Atlantic Watch,
and the Shamrock and Thistle Pipes and Drums to perform on the Fountain Terrace.
  
ASF's lunchtime series of concerts included performances from Hannah Read & Friends,
the Morrison Academy Pipe Band, Maureen McMullan and a "capsule" introduction
to Iona Crawfords Atelier range of Kelpie inspired creations. 
  
On April 6th, in honor of Tartan Day, the ASF presented a Tartan Day Observance with readings from Donald and Lewis MacLeod, music from the Highland Divas and the New York Metro Pipe Band
