After a Winter that has not wanted to let up, could we be seeing a glimmer of Spring on the horizon...

The Year of Homecoming is now here and the celebrations on both sides of the Atlantic will soon be in full swing.  Scotland Tartan Week is less than six weeks away... and the countdown to the New York Tartan Day Parade on Saturday April 5th is on.

Next Tuesday February 25th ASF Members and Friends are invited to join for a Members Evening - with New Members invited as Guests of the Foundation ...
The evening will be a chance for ASF Members to get to know each other better.  We have had a record number of new members join the Foundation in the past eighteen months and we want to get to know everyone better.

It is going to be BUSY this Spring ...
We have several wonderful projects and events upcoming and are excited to share the news as soon as we can...

As we have said before, we cannot do all we do without your help and support.

Kind regards,

Camilla

On Friday, January 17, the ASF held its 19th Annual Burns Celebration in association with the University Club, New York.

With over 250 people in attendance the evening was awash in tartan, bagpipes, haggis and reels as Scotland's Bard was celebrated with music from Maureen McMullan and Mike Ogletree and the wonderful sounds of Hannah Read & Friends with their unique blend of Appalachian and Celtic Root music.  To view photographs of the event visit our website

Kenneth Donnelly delivered a rousing Address To The Haggis, with great theatrical gusto. The procession was led by Andy Hamilton of the New York Pipes and Drums with the Chef Bagli, David McNicoll and the Stone Family completing the presentation.

ASF would like to thank William Grant USA for the Balvenie whisky tasting.

The Raffle was made possible by the generous support of:

As the Bryant Park ice rink ends its Season, and Spring approaches, ASF is delighted to share with you the news that leading Scottish Sculptor Andy Scott's Kelpie maquette sculptures will be arriving at Bryant Park Fountain Terrace.

The Kelpies will be exhibited from March 21st through April 22nd in the lead up to the internationally acclaimed week of Scottish celebrations in New York City.

The Kelpies at Bryant Park are scale models of the two 100ft steel horses heads which are the largest equine sculptures in the world.  Attracting world wide recognition, the Kelpies are the center piece of the £43 million Helix land transformational project between Falkirk and Grangemouth in central Scotland.

The Maquettes have previously been showcased in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, as well as Scotland's capital city Edinburgh.

The Kelpies' arrival in Bryant Park is a partnership between the Helix Project, The City of New York Parks and Recreation, Bryant Park Corporation, and the American-Scottish Foundation.

About ASF

The mission of The American-Scottish Foundation®, an international not-for-profit organization, is to establish links and strengthen ties between Scotland and the United States, through the pursuit of contemporary social, cultural, educational, and business activities.

The mission remains as relevant today as when ASF was founded in 1956 by Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton - to champion the extraordinary relationship between the peoples of Scotland and the United States - a bridge between the two great countries - seeking to strengthen & support the future of the Scottish American diaspora, and its legacy.
