This past weekend, thousands of runners arrived in New York for the New York Marathon. It is now a year since Sandy devastated and turned upside down so many lives.

The Archie Foundation, who are head quartered at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, have for the past five years brought a contingent of runners to New York for the marathon, raising money for the children's hospitals they support throughout the north and west of Scotland.

Last year the Archie runners arrived to news of the Marathons cancellation. Their days were filled not with running Manhattan streets but going out to Staten Island, to Harlem, to the outer boroughs trying to find a way to help.

They are here once again in New York for this years race.  ASF wishes them a great stay, in a great city.  And to all our visitors from afar we are glad you are back here with us.

Sincerely,
Camilla G. Hellman, MBE

About ASF

The mission of The American-Scottish Foundation, an international not-for-profit organization, is to establish links and strengthen ties between Scotland and the United States, through the pursuit of contemporary social, cultural, educational, and business activities.

The mission remains as relevant today as when ASF was founded in 1956 by Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton - to champion the extraordinary relationship between the peoples of Scotland and the United States - a bridge between the two great countries - seeking to strengthen & support the future of the Scottish American diaspora, and its legacy.
