We are delighted to be marking (what we hope will be) the start of Spring, with our Sunset Tea (with Pimms!) at the Central Park Arsenal Rooftop Garden on Wednesday, May 15.

We hope to see many of our new members at the Sunset Tea; membership is the lifeblood of the ASF, so THANK YOU to all our members and friends for your support.

April was a very busy month with the Scotland Tartan Week 2013 celebrations. ASF, as a founding member of the New York National Tartan Day Committee, would like to let everyone know that work is already underway on Scotland Tartan Week 2014 - the Year of Homecoming.  Scotland Tartan Week is growing all the time.

Mark your calendars for the New York Tartan Day 16th Annual Tartan Day Parade, on Saturday, April 5, 2014 - registration and event details will follow shortly.

The next few months will be busy with a varity of events from bulb planting at Van Cortlandt Park, to the 17th North American Leadership Conference in Chicago in October, and our Annual Wallace Award Gala Dinner in NYC November.  Plans are also underway for the return of our "Words and Whisky"  series of book signings and talks which will begin in late summer.

A few changes have taken place at the ASF... Alan L. Bain became Chairman of the Foundation at our recent annual general meeting, with Heather L. Bain becoming Chairman Emerita, having led the Foundation for the past two years. In addition, our Arts and Culture Representative Emma Robertson-Werner, will become our 'International Arts & Culture Representative', as she relocates back to Scotland.

Please keep sending us news and updates so we can grow our information portal for all of you.

Best wishes,
Camilla

IONA CRAWFORD APPOINTED STIRLING'S 2014 CREATIVE DIRECTOR!
Congratulations Iona!

Iona Crawford; currently one of the hottest Scottish designers, speaks on her recent appointment:

"This has been an incredible 12 months for me. I signed up with a New York agent, my designs are being marketed across North America and India, I had a great and highly productive time at London Fashion Week and my film has been well-received. However, being appointed Creative Director for Stirling 2014 is undoubtedly the highlight for me."

The eyes of the world will be on Scotland next year and Iona plans to capitalise on that to re-brand Stirling and its profile on a global scale.

She said: "2014 is a big year for Scotland and Stirling with the Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn. As the heart of Scotland I feel this is a great opportunity to raise Stirling's profile world-wide."
