Wayne Carlton's Calls new Tone Trough Diaphragm line allows hunters of all skill levels to add diaphragm calls to their elk calling arsenal. "It's a revolution in elk diaphragm calling," says Wayne Carlton. "The built-in sound chamber, or tone trough, allows hunters to blow the call using less pressure while achieving great sounds. Because less pressure is required, the life of the call and of the reed is prolonged. The unique design of the Tone Trough reduces gagging by not engaging the roof of the mouth. The Tone Trough sound chamber produces the highest pitch bugles, as well as the most authentic nasal cow calls found on the market."
Wayne Carlton's Calls Tone Trough Diaphragms come in a number of configurations, including single, double, 1.5, 2.5 and triple reed designs. The Battlin' Bulls 2-pack includes both single and double reed calls. The Hot Cows 2-pack comes with a Cow & Calf 1.5 reed and Buglin' 2.5 reed calls. An Elk Arsenal 4-pack is available with single reed, double reed, Cow & Calf 1.5 reed and triple reed calls. MSRP varies from $8.99 to $12.99.

Los Angeles Bans Large-Cap Mags
The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to ban the possession of large-capacity gun magazines, following San Francisco to become the second major city in California to take that step. The ordinance prohibits Los Angeles residents from possessing a handgun or rifle magazine that fits more than 10 rounds. Residents would have 60 days after the law takes effect to remove, sell or transfer such magazines from city limits in compliance with state law or surrender them to the LAPD. The law will take effect 30 days after Mayor Eric Garcetti signs it, a move that he was "eager" to make, he said in a statement.
Similar ordinances in San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California, have so far withstood legal challenges, and last year a federal judge upheld a Colorado law banning magazines that hold more than 15 rounds. "The step we're taking today is not a wild step," said Council Member Paul Krekorian, who sponsored the ordinance, at a rally before the vote. "People who want to defend homes don't need a 100-round drum magazine to do so." [Source: Reuters]

Ohio Man with Concealed Carry
Prevents Mass Shooting
An Ohio concealed carrier prevented a tragedy Sunday when he fired upon a man who was trying to kill a woman he had gotten into an argument with, as well as her one-year-old child and innocent bystanders. Cincinnati's Fox19 reported that 62-year-old Thomas McCary pulled a gun on Patrick Ewing when Ewing attempted to settle a dispute between his own sister, Jeaneta Walker, and McCary. McCary shot at Ewing three times, according to the report, prompting Ewing to pull out his own firearm, for which he has a concealed carry license. Ewing hit McCary in the leg, but it didn't prevent him from returning to his house and emerging with yet more firepower.
McCary, now carrying two handguns, came out firing at anyone in sight, including Ms. Walker, the child and another man in the vicinity. Ewing again opened fire as close to McCary as he safely could, diverting his attention and allowing the innocents to run to safety. McCary was eventually arrested and taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released into police custody. He is being held without bond in Hamilton County jail on four counts of felonious assault. Ewing is being hailed as a local hero and will almost certainly not face charges for using his weapon, as this was a case of self-defense. [Source: Infowars.com]

Should America Subarm Its Citizens?
There's a point between fully armed and disarmed; that is subarmed. Being subarmed is dangerous. Officials would never stand for it themselves. It's the point where you don't have a very good gun, or certainly not the type you'd prefer, or not the type your police prefer for their own safety, and not the right ammo, or certainly not enough of it. It isn't the caliber you want, and the magazine is too small. You're subarmed.
It seems there are people at work in the government and the euphemistic gun-control movement who have figured out that if they can't disarm the public--because the public will not stand for it and put up intense opposition--they can subarm the public (that's you) a little at a time. If you're subarmed, and they're fully armed, that's pretty much victory for them and a shift in control.
Because it happens by bits, the big picture is obscured. Little by little the power shifts from the public to the authorities. We used to have parity with government, and this kept government in check and made America the liberty capital on Earth. We the people were equal with our hired hands. Both sides were in a state of stasis--equilibrium. They had matchlocks; we had matchlocks. They had flintlocks; we had flintlocks. They got cap and ball; we all had it. We grew up together; we were partners in this, developed the field together. Self-contained cartridges, rifled barrels, bolt action, revolvers, semi-auto, improvements to everything, optics, full auto...the story starts to rag out right there.
In 1968 our employees in government decided it was time for us to fill out paperwork for any gun purchased from any manufacturer. It's been that way ever since, despite the enormous trash piles generated by "news" media to the contrary. It's no big deal--maybe--but every gun made and sold legally to an American since then comes with government paperwork.
Sixteen years later, in 1986, the scales of equality tipped over. The Gun Control Act basically said members of the state could have machine guns but the peasants (that's us) could not--only one-shot guns for us. Matching firepower was no longer for the masses--it was for the hired help only. Two centuries of Gun Equality between the government and the public was over. Now that's a big deal. Richard Dreyfuss: Rewrite Second Amendment
In a July 23 interview published in the New York Observer, actor Richard Dreyfuss said he would like to rewrite the 2nd Amendment to make it clear it applies to the militia rather than individual rights. Dreyfuss said this after being asked, "What was the Founding Fathers' biggest mistake?" and "What article of the Constitution would you rewrite?"
Dreyfuss said their biggest mistake was in not "[making] public education part of the Constitution." He then addressed the 2nd Amendment: "The Second Amendment. It's the only Amendment that's obscurely written, and I would have made it clear. I would have said, 'This is for establishing militia and everyone has the right to participate in that militia, and you can have a gun if you participate in that militia.'"
He suggested his desire to rewrite the amendment springs from the divide over gun control vs. gun rights in our country. He said, "One group says no guns even if some guy has a knife to my child's throat, and the NRA people say give me a semiautomatic missile or I'll kill you."
Dreyfuss then compared guns to cars, suggesting we will likely always have guns just like we will likely always have cars. He then added: "[But] no one would let anyone behind the wheel of a car without being trained in its use, so why can't we have that?"

Congressmen: Secure Social Security and 2A
Nineteen members of the powerful Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, all Republicans, this week sent a strongly worded letter to the Acting Commissioner of Social Security, telling her that an Obama Administration proposal to provide the names of some disabled Social Security beneficiaries to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to automatically classify them as prohibited persons would meet their opposition should such a "misguided policy" be pursued. The letter points out such a move would violate the spirit of the Americans with Disability Act and revoke without cause a constitutional right. Read the letter. NSSF is supportive of this and other efforts in Congress to stop what is an attempt to take away the right to keep and bear arms of up to 4.2 million citizens. [Source: NSSF]
