Beretta authorized dealers, Beretta Galleries and major firearm retailers are stocked with the newest and lightest model from Sako - the new Sako 85 Carbonlight. The rifle is built using the same carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) technology used in constructing new sports cars and aircraft which makes the rifle extremely light, durable and rigid. It is designed for the hunter who pursues game across the roughest terrains and demands the best equipment. It weighs about five pounds, has an ultralight and durable stock, and a stainless fluted barrel. Like all Sako rifles, the Carbonlight has a five shot MOA guarantee. The rifle comes in five calibers: .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, .308 Win, .260 Rem and 7mm-08 Rem.

BenchMaster is proud to introduce the new Bedside Rack, Ready Rack and 6-Gun Pistol And Magazine Rack, products that provide cushion storage to protect your guns and features designed for quick and easy access. A pistol offers security and protection should the unthinkable happen, and a homeowner equipped with the newest Weapon Rack products from Bench Master is far from defenseless.

Like the name implies, the Bedside Rack is designed to attach to the side of the bed. With the Bedside Rack, a homeowner who awakens to the sound of an intruder would need only the time to reach for the side of the bed, saving precious seconds. The Ready Rack offers the same cushion protection and is designed so it can be used in various situations where it can be hidden, yet available for quick access.

For storage of your pistols in a gun safe or another safe location, Bench Master announces the new 6-Gun Pistol and Magazine Rack. The Bench Master Weapon Rack Gun Rest products are designed to hold multiple pistols in a safe and secure manner that allows rapid access. The new 6-Gun Rest answers the call from satisfied owners of the 2-Gun, 3-Gun and 4-Gun Racks who needed a Rack that would hold and protect more guns.

 Murder Rates Drop as

Concealed Carry Permits Soar

In a July 14th article in the Washington Times, journalist Kellan Howell noted the number of concealed carry handgun permits has skyrocketed since President Obama was first elected while murder rates have fallen, according to a new report released Wednesday. Since 2007 the number of concealed handgun permits has soared from 4.6 million to over 12.8 million; murder rates have fallen from 5.6 killings per 100,000 people to just 4.2, about a 25 percent drop, according to the report from the Crime Prevention Research Center.

And the number of permits issued is increasing faster every year. Over 1.7 million new permits were issued last year - a 15.4 percent increase over 2013, the largest such single-year jump ever, according to the report from the center led by President John R. Lott and research director John E. Whitley. The number of concealed carriers is likely even higher, since permits are not required in eight states. Gun rights advocates say that the findings in the report fall in line with their personal experiences and research and directly refute the liberal argument that more guns lead to more violence.

"It puts the lie to the myth promulgated by anti-gun individuals that somehow more law-abiding citizens carrying guns will lead to more crime. In fact, quite the opposite is the case," said Larry Keene, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation. "More law-abiding citizens own firearms for self-protection, and crime continues to decline."

But gun control advocates denounced the report, pointing to other studies showing concealed handguns are more frequently used for non-self-defense killings. [Read the entire article]

2015 Firearms-Related Injury Statistics

Data released by the National Safety Council demonstrates that unintentional firearms-related fatalities continue to remain at historically low levels. In fact, in the last two decades, the number of unintentional firearms-related fatalities has declined by 65 percent - from 1,521 unintentional fatalities in 1993 to 530 in 2013. Firearms are involved in fewer than a ½-percent of all unintentional fatalities in the United States. In a side by side comparison, firearms rank among the lowest causes of accidental injury.

Firearms-related fatalities in the U.S. have been decreasing consistently since record keeping began in 1903 and dramatically in the last 20 years to a century-long low. In the last twenty years (1993 - 2013), the number of unintentional firearm-related fatalities involving children 14 years of age and under has decreased by 66 percent. Unintentional firearms-related fatalities are substantially lower than the number of unintentional fatalities caused by most other forms of injury. Firearms are involved in 1.7 percent of unintentional fatalities among children 14 years of age and under and are among the least likely causes of unintentional fatality. [Read the entire article]

SF Sheriff Highlights 'Only Ones' Hypocrisy

A peace officer chastising a security guard for harassing citizens on Independence Day stands in stark contrast to those in law enforcement who instead put their personal interests over their Constitutional obligations and abuse their positions of power. The latter, a group I've labeled "Only Ones," are exemplified by San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, an anti-gun enforcer who recently had his own criminal record expunged.

Mirkarimi is also attempting to expunge his complicity in releasing illegal alien Francisco Lopez-Sanchez from custody despite his criminal record and serial reentry history. Sanchez allegedly ignored citizen disarmament edicts the sheriff supports and killed a woman with a gun stolen from an as-yet unidentified Bureau of Land Management ranger's car. For his part, Mirkarimi has taken to social and other media to point his finger at Immigration and Customs Enforcement for not complying with San Francisco's "sanctuary city" policies, conveniently ignoring that months earlier he bragged about having "the honor to say that I'm the first Sheriff in the United States to say no to ICE." Ammunition Background Checks

Suspended in N.Y.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is being forced to bite the bullet, and we're not talking metaphorically. Cuomo's 2013 SAFE Act's mandate for a background check with every ammunition purchase turned out to be a dud. As a result, Cuomo's Director of State Operations, James Malatras, has signed a memorandum of understanding with State Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan to undo certain aspects of the New York SAFE Act gun control law. The MOU specifies that no state money may be used to develop and run the database, thereby also killing the ban on Internet ammo sales. According to a spokesman for the New York State Police, the state does not have the technology required to develop and operate the database. Considering the SAFE Act was a legislative centerpiece for Cuomo, it's not surprising that his name does not appear anywhere in the MOU and the public announcement of its failure was quietly announced late Friday afternoon by two upstate State Senate Republicans - State Senators Catharine Young and William Seward.

 U.S. High Schools Embrace

Shooting as Hot New Sport

Can you name the world's biggest shooting-sport event? The answer is all the more intriguing in that it was recently written up in Bloomberg Business. In 2009, the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League championship's first year, the contest drew 30 shooters. Last month the championship drew 5,134 shooters and over 20,000 spectators and sponsors including Benelli and SKB Shotguns. Trap shooting is the fastest-growing sport in Minnesota high schools and was recently introduced in neighboring Wisconsin and North Dakota.

"This is the best thing to happen to the shooting sports in 50 years," said Dennis Knudson, a 74-year-old lifelong trap shooter, after watching his grandson compete. "It's so fun to see the youngsters stepping up. It will preserve the sport, and they'll do it for the rest of their lives."

While it may make anti-gun activists uneasy, it's a boon for manufacturers and retailers that have stoked its growth. The National Shooting Sports Foundation estimates the average 16-year-old competitor will spend $75,000 over his or her lifetime. For the National Rifle Association youngsters represent an important new constituency. "These kids are going to be future legislators, and they're going to get in there and know the truth about weapons," said Dennis Taylor, an NRA member and an operations manager at the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association.
