Beretta is celebrating its 100th Anniversary by producing a limited number of its Model 1915 and making them available through a select network of dealers and the Beretta Galleries in Dallas and Memphis. The 1915 was adopted by the Italian forces one month after Italy entered World War I. Since then dozens more models of semi-automatic pistols have been produced by Beretta, including the venerable Beretta M9 - which this year is also celebrating its 30th anniversary as the official sidearm of the United States Armed Forces.

Same-Sex Marriage Decision
Does Not Mean National Concealed Carry Recognition
Since the U.S. Supreme Court weighed in on Obergefell v. Hodges in June, concealed carry permit holders have been touting that the Obergefell decision means the right to national concealed carry. On the face of it, the court's logic would suggest such is the case. What's the difference if we're talking about same sex marriage or concealed carry? The principle is the same, but it would be a mistake to confuse "means" with "implies."
It is important to note that SCOTUS did not take on the subject of concealed carry, but rather the Heller and McDonald decisions only addressed the question of having a handgun in your home for personal protection.

Editorial
Father Pfleger Redux
David A. Lombardo
Father Michael Pfleger, the Archdiocese of Chicago's court jester, is once again on his anti-gun jihad. Nothing says "Welcome to Chicago, Archbishop Cupich," like sitting down to watch the 5 o'clock news and seeing Father Pfleger ranting on television. Pfleger is infamous for his ability to attract the news media.
When he's not on camera, he's busy organizing his next appearance which is not modeled after the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. Pfleger's specialty appears to be inciting the crowd he brings with him to drag the gun store owner outside and kill him in the street. Fortunately nobody takes the nutcase that seriously, so gun store owners have thus far avoided being whacked by the Catholic Church.
Apparently Pfleger doesn't remember Matthew 5:44 - Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Not that any gun shop owner has persecuted Pfleger. Most gun store owners view Pfleger as a cockroach.
Apparently now, finding he has a little time on his hands, Pfleger has decided to file law suits against the towns of Riverdale, Lyons and Lincolnwood-not against those that illegally use firearms, but the towns in which the gun stores are located.
As a side note, one has to wonder when the good padre finds time to tend to his flock at St. Sabina's. But then I'm not convinced he cares about his flock's spiritual well-being. Father Pfleger is on a mission from God. But unlike Jake and Elwood Blues' mission from God, this one is far more sinister and devoid of any intellectual insight.
The lawsuit, which was filed in Cook County Circuit Court, accuses Riverdale, Lyons and Lincolnwood of not having enough oversight when it comes to licensing and regulating gun shops. Right, like it's so easy to buy a gun illegally in an Illinois gun store; you can grow a beard in the time it takes you to fill out the forms.
The suit was presumably spurred on as a result of the 2014 City of Chicago report which claims nearly 20 percent of guns recovered from crime scenes in Chicago are purchased from gun stores in those three villages. The lawsuit also claims this is causing disproportionate hardship on African American communities, which is a violation of the Illinois Civil Rights Act. Seriously, Pfleger's argument is it's a civil rights violation? I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he breaks that news to his law-abiding, pistol-packing parishioners.
Gee, let's see. You have a gun store in a bad neighborhood. Good, law-abiding people who live there are afraid for their lives, so they go to the local gun store and buy a gun for personal protection. They're subsequently robbed, the gun is stolen and eventually shows up in a street crime.
Is that a good situation? No, but it's the best Plan B they've got going. Plan A was unarmed law-abiding citizens in a bad neighborhood simply being sitting ducks. The solution is not to sue the village or the law-abiding person that purchased the gun. The solution is to do something about the gang-infested community. This is where Father Pfleger's hypocrisy rises to the surface for all the world to see, or more specifically, for all the world not to see.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, there were no shootings in the otherwise notoriously dangerous Englewood District of Chicago. Moms took to the street for the holiday, fingers wagging, tongues clucking, armed with rolling pins and putting up with nothing from the street punks. It worked, and everyone made it through the holiday unscathed. Noticeably absent was Father Pfleger.
If he were really interested in reducing gun violence in his neighborhood, he would have been there, learning a thing or two from the moms. The thing is, actually stopping the violence doesn't fit Father Pfleger's agenda. If that sort of thing gets out of hand and gang violence does go down, it won't be long before reporters will forget Pfleger's name, and he'll be back in the sanctuary sampling the wine.
The great irony that apparently escapes Father Pfleger is his own parishioners constitute an area of Chicago that has one of the highest per capita gun purchase rates. Apparently when Pfleger is out protesting some poor gun store owner, his parishioners sneak off to a different gun store and buy a gun. At least someone in St. Sabina's parish has a little common sense.

House to Vote on Appropriations Bill with Traditional Ammo Protections
When the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes, it will consider the FY2016 Interior Appropriations bill that contains several provisions important to the industry. The most important is a section that makes permanent the protection of traditional ammunition and ammunition components (as well as fishing tackle) from EPA regulation under TSCA. The bill also has a section that protects the lawful commerce of items that contain ivory legally imported into the U.S. Additionally the legislation prevents the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from taking any action to list the Sage Grouse on the Endangered Species List and provides adequate funding to combat wildfires that destroy millions of acres of wildlife habitat important for hunting and outdoor recreation. Be sure to call your legislatures and tell them to support the Interior Appropriations bill. [Source: National Shooting Sports Foundation]

Make No Mistake: "The Trace" is
No Impartial News Organization
By Larry Keane, National Shooting Sports Foundation
Readers Beware. Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently revealed a new tactic in his ongoing campaign to impose his anti-gun agenda on Americans with the launch of "The Trace." The new website describes itself as a "media organization dedicated to expanding coverage of guns in the United States." Bloomberg, of course, already owns and controls one of the largest media empires in the world in Bloomberg LP, but apparently it is not adequately biased to serve his anti-gun agenda.
According to Editorial Director James Burnett, "The Trace" is not an "anti-gun" organization but hopes to "appeal to people across the spectrum on the issue." But the content makes it clear that the organization is just another Bloomberg-funded gun control project. The site even states, "We bring an admitted bias to our beat."
Huffington Post further illustrated this intentional bias while celebrating the launch of the new "news" organization. "We believe that the rate of gun violence is too high, and we believe that there is not enough information about the issue as a whole," James Burnett said in his interview. "As journalists we have it as our mission to address that shortage of information."
Like other Bloomberg-backed organizations (Everytown for Gun Safety, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America), "The Trace" has already earned a lack of credibility among gun owners. Within the first few days of operation, the organization has readers outraged over one-sided reporting on issues and reckless disregard for facts.
It is clear that Bloomberg's true goal is not to increase education and awareness on firearms and firearm safety but to even more thoroughly color the information that reaches Americans about their Second Amendment rights. Orwellian propagandists have nothing on the sprawling Bloomberg newspeak machine.
Readers who may stumble across an article in "The Trace" - and any legitimate reporters seeking to inform themselves and the public on Second Amendment issues - should ignore the advocacy "journalists" at the "The Trace" and treat them like the Bloomberg, anti-gun staffers they are.

Another Gun Control Claim Bites the Dust
On Monday the Washington Post gave Four Pinocchios to U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) for repeating a claim-originated by Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety group-that there has been an average of one school shooting per week since the December 2012 crime at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
"Applying a reasonable person standard" to what should be considered a "school shooting" in the context of the Sandy Hook crime, the Post concluded that of 126 incidents on Everytown's list, most were suicides or attempted suicides, accidents or shootings resulting from arguments between individuals, and perhaps only 10 were crimes in which someone intended to shoot multiple people.
The Post, saying "lawmakers need to present information-especially for such a controversial topic as gun control-in a clear, responsible and accurate way," considered Sen. Murphy's lie particularly egregious in view of the fact that Everytown's claims about school shootings have been so widely discredited previously. As examples, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution first rated Everytown's claims about the number of school shootings since Sandy Hook mostly false back in June 2014. Three months later John Lott released the result of research that found that some of the persons involved in the incidents cited by Everytown weren't even associated with the schools and/or the incidents didn't occur during regular school hours.
Maybe Murphy can take comfort from the fact that he's not the only anti-gunner that has been taken to task for telling lies. In 2013 the Post rejected former Pres. Bill Clinton's claim that half of all mass killings in the United States had occurred since the September 2004 expiration of his "ban" on "assault weapons" and "large" magazines. The newspaper said, "the available data show that Clinton was way off base in his assertion, making an exaggerated claim-which his office would not even defend." [Source: NRA/ILA]
