Legacy Sports International has announced the arrival of their new Yote camo exclusively available in the Escort line of semi-auto shotguns and Howa Ranchland rifles. Yote is short for coyote; the Yote camo pattern looks like coyote fur and was developed, in part, by champion coyote caller and host of Predator Quest TV, Les Johnson. Les endorses Yote and uses it exclusively on his Escort shotguns for the show. The Standard Magnum model is offered in 12-gauge chambering, while the Youth model is available in 20-gauge.

Obama Undeterred On More Gun Control Schemes

Last week on ABC's "Good Morning America," President Obama told interviewer Dr. Richard Besser that he hasn't given up on passing more gun control laws.

"But the power of NRA and the gun lobby in Congress is formidable," Obama said. "And you know, we're going to keep chipping away at this, but until you get intense public demands for this, it's probably not going to happen because some special interests and lobbyists in Washington are really, really strong, and their membership feels very intensely about the issue. Whereas the general public is concerned about it but doesn't make it their top priority."

Coincidentally the Washington Times pointed out how well the American firearms industry has been doing during the Obama Administration, noting historically high consumer demand that sent production of guns soaring to more than 10.8 million manufactured in 2013 alone. According to the Times, the 2013 surge - the latest for which the government has figures - came in the first full year after the December 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, signaling that the push for stricter gun controls, strongly backed by President Obama, did little to chill the industry despite the passage of stricter laws in states such as New York, Maryland, Connecticut and California.

"The surge in firearms sales in 2013 reflects both a long-term upward trend in shooting sports participation and [a] particular concern that year that law-abiding gun owners and those interested in purchasing a firearm for the first time could face tougher restrictions affecting access to and selection of firearms," said Mike Bazinet, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an industry group.

Humane Society: This Dog Won't Hunt

The Human Society of the United States (HSUS) isn't what it appears to be. Despite what people think, HSUS' 2013 tax return reveals that a mere 1 percent of its $120 million budget went toward helping animal shelters. The other 99 percent of that budget was spent on fundraising expenses or placed in offshore funds. It also turns out that the HSUS knows full well that most of its donors believe they're helping cats and dogs, not paying to advance an anti-hunting and anti-farming agenda.

According to Larry Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel, HSUS blatantly lied to Congress. During a U.S. Senate Subcommittee hearing on the Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act of 2015, Senator Jim Inhofe specifically asked HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle about the organization's fundraising activity, citing the group's animal-focused advertising. Senator Inhofe pointed out that although HSUS raised $1.7 million from Oklahomans from 2011 to 2013, largely through ads implying the funds raised would be used to help animals displaced by tornadoes, legitimate Oklahoma animal welfare organizations received only $110,000. Pacelle responded saying that "the presumption that somehow the ads say we are giving money to animal shelters is a false assumption. There is language that says this is not going to local animal shelters - explicit language."

SAF Helps Navy Vet Whose Guns Were Seized

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has taken on funding the case of a retired Glendale, Arizona, Navy veteran whose gun collection was seized by authorities because of an ongoing dispute with a neighbor who obtained a protection order. The case of 56-year-old Rick Bailey has made headlines in the Southwest and across the Internet. Bailey had complained to the City of Glendale about the neighbor's habit of parking dump trucks used in his landscaping company. The dispute unfolded over several months until Bailey called police over concerns of toxic chemical odors apparently coming from the neighbor's property. The neighbor apparently alleged that Bailey had threatened him, and the following day he obtained a harassment order against Bailey. Police showed up and took Bailey's gun collection; Bailey wants his property back.

SAF is working with Chandler, Arizona, attorney Mark J. Victor to secure the return of Bailey's firearms and help solve his predicament. Bailey's collection of 28 firearms has an estimated value of more than $25,000 and took more than a decade for him to collect.

"Mr. Bailey is devastated by this situation," said SAF Founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. "We seem to live in an environment when someone's life can be turned upside down on an allegation that should have been thoroughly investigated before any action was ordered by a court. Sadly this kind of hideous gun confiscation flies below the radar, and it is happening more frequently to gun owners across the country."

Surprise: NY Times Lied

About No Guns at NRA Convention

In an April 10th article in the New York Times, prior to its being revised when the Times started back-pedaling, the Editorial Board opened with this:

"Seventy-thousand people are expected to attend the National Rifle Association's convention opening in Tennessee, and not one of them will be allowed to come armed with guns that can actually shoot. After all the N.R.A. propaganda about how 'good guys with guns' are needed to be on guard across American life, from elementary schools to workplaces, the weekend's gathering of disarmed conventioneers seems the ultimate in hypocrisy.

"There will be plenty of weapons in evidence at the hundreds of display booths, but for convention security the firing pins must be removed. So far, there has been none of the familiar complaint about infringing supposedly sacrosanct Second Amendment rights - the gun lobby's main argument in opposing tighter federal background checks on gun buyers after the 2012 gun massacre of schoolchildren in Connecticut. Anyone interested in buying the guns on display, many of them adapted from large-magazine battlefield weapons, will have to apply later at a federally licensed gun dealer where, sensibly enough, background checks are required."

True to form, the New York Times made up the story. The fact is the NRA did not ban the carrying of guns at the convention. The main venue of the multi-venue event allowed concealed carry; one of the other venues did not. The NRA cautioned its members to adhere to all local, state and federal laws. Furthermore the NRA didn't dictate firing pins be removed from display firearms but doing so is a longstanding industry safety practice. Once more the New York Times leads the way in our understanding why the common man has stopped trusting the print media.

Stabbings at Pennsylvania School

Add a New Wrinkle to Gun Debate

The novelty of last week's knife attack on students at a suburban Pittsburgh high school provides a new debating point in America's endless argument about guns. Proponents of an unrestricted right to own and carry all types of firearms will point to this incident and say it proves that any weapon is dangerous and that gun owners should not be singled out and shackled by government regulation. They will also insist that if there had been guns available to teachers and administrators at Franklin Regional Senior High School, where the stabbings took place, someone could have stopped the 16-year-old perpetrator as soon as he initiated his attacks.

Fans of gun control will counter by noting that, had the boy with the two knives been wielding an assault rifle instead, the students now in the hospital would likely be in a morgue and the number of victims would have been much higher. As it was, gun opponents will note, two school employees were able to subdue the boy without gunning him down and, unless one believes rough justice is better than a court, that is a good thing.

And so it will go. Old arguments will be rehashed and get us no closer to figuring out what to do about the acts of mass violence that come at us relentlessly, month after month, even day after day.[Source: Los Angeles Times - David Horsey]
