ShotLock has introduced a line of individual home defense gun safes for the shotgun, handgun, CCW and AR platforms called the 200E Electromechanical Lock. The 200E follows the recently launched 200M mechanical version, which was released in November '14 for both handguns and shotguns. Much like the 200M, the 200E boasts additional key features that elevate this lock over other electromechanical locks in this category. Key components include: A key override (with 3 keys provided), a tamper proof lock clutch mechanism, increased 10-digit combinations (1.2 million), reprogrammable operation directly from the face of the lock, sleek and efficient 5-button function, low battery indicator and an emergency battery backup feature which can be used to temporarily power the unit back on allowing you to use your combination to open the ShotLock and change the internal batteries in case you ignored it's warnings.

Thought for the week

Every government is perpetually degenerating towards corruption, from which it must be rescued at certain periods by the resuscitation of its first principles, and the re-establishment of its original constitution.

Hogue is offering a variety of new grip designs for Ruger's LCR series revolvers. Hogue's Tamer grips feature a soft rubber insert on the inside of the grip at the back-strap - where it does its recoil absorbing duties underneath OverMolded Rubber. A clever design feature shared by all rubber Tamer grips: a hardened polymer guide embedded on the left side of the grip for speed loaders. For the LCR enclosed hammer model, Hogue offers the Bantam Boot Tamer without finger grooves - a smooth, small grip - ideal for deep carry and maximum conceal-ability. The Bantam Boot Tamer features comfortable rubber strips on the front and back and a smooth polymer exterior to minimize clothing snags when un-holstering. Hogue Tamer MSRP varies from $26.95 to $29.95 OverMolded from $59.95 to $79.95.

Obama's Dystopian Society

David A. Lombardo

For quite some time I've been saying this president is specifically transforming the United States into a communist dictatorship that will be ruled by elite demi-gods such as himself. Tribune columnist Eric Zorn said my idea of the transformation into a dystopian world was pure fantasy, essentially the hallmark of conservative fear-mongering.

Repeated attempts to ban modern sporting rifles is "to protect the children," though rarely has the firearm been used to harm children. Banning the enormously popular M855 ammunition that can now be fired from a handgun is "to save law enforcement officers," though there isn't a single record of any cop being shot by a handgun firing M855 ammunition.

Fast and Furious was "to trace the flow of illegal weapons across the border to Mexican drug cartels," but in fact was a set-up deal that the Department of Justice was going to use as an excuse for further U.S. gun control laws.

Giving military combat equipment to local law enforcement agencies is "to deal with gang violence and terrorism," yet recipients of the military MRAP-the mine-resistant ambush-protected armored personnel vehicle-and other military grade weaponry are often small towns and counties geographically spread across the country. Dundee, Michigan, a sleepy community of 3,900, received a free MRAP. Its crime index is 53% lower than the Michigan average, which is 10% lower than the national average. To date, no terrorists have turned the local Bob Evans Restaurant into a killing field. In fact the only threat of killing anyone occurs during the fourth quarter of a tense high school football game.

The list of government programs to monitor and control John Q is getting so long that it's difficult to even remember what they are. Red light cameras, speed cameras and now license plate recognition cameras keep track of who's going where, and 24/7 telephone and email monitoring keeps tabs of private conversations.

Did you find it difficult to believe that the federal government intentionally exacerbated the Ferguson, Missouri, conflict? That they sent provocateurs to Ferguson specifically to fire up racist interaction so the Department of Justice would have grounds to begin spreading the word that law enforcement is racist? Still doubt Obama's intent? If you hate ObamaCare, then check this out: ObamaLaw.

Recently Obama publicly stated, "We have a great opportunity to really transform how we think about community law enforcement relations. We need to seize that opportunity...this is something that I'm going to stay very focused on in the months to come," he said. Obama also publicly called upon the press to support his intent to federalize law enforcement and not to give voice to critics of the program.

Look at the pieces: flooding the country with illegal aliens who will support liberalism and dilute the vote; the continuous attempts to disarm the public by legal or illegal means; the development of nationwide surveillance programs; the militarism of local law enforcement and the intent to federalize it; and then add this.

When the President can't muster up enough support for one of his initiatives, he simply does an end run around the Congress by declaring an Executive Order. Most recently he's warned law enforcement at all levels that there would be "consequences" for anyone that doesn't enforce his immigration policy even though the courts are saying it's unconstitutional.

Obama is not only giving a middle-digit-salute to Congress but also to the courts. Of the three branches of government that run the country, the executive, legislative and judicial, Obama has marginalized the other two that are meant to serve as a check-and-balance function against the executive branch. If Obama is no longer fettered by the legislature or the judiciary, if he has national surveillance in place and will soon control local law enforcement, has he not become a de facto dictator?

Obama to Ban Popular AR-15 Ammo

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) this month revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track. The issue lies with so-called armor-piercing ammunition and handguns. There is an exception for such ammunition if it is "primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes." BATFE is proposing a new framework for those requesting that their projectile qualify as one designed for sporting purposes. M855 ball ammunition, which is the focus of the new regulation, could then fall into this category, according to the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action.

"The firearm industry has developed commercially available handguns designed to use conventional rifle ammunition," BATFE wrote in its proposal. "This ammunition meets the content requirement of the definition, but previously was not classified as 'armor piercing' under the statute because there were no handguns that could 'use' it. As a result of the availability of these handguns, however, some conventional rifle ammunition now falls within the statutory definition and is properly classified as 'armor piercing ammunition,' despite the fact that the ammunition itself has not changed. Consequently, ammunition manufacturers have requested exemptions for this ammunition." [Source: Jason W. Stevens - The Federalist Papers Project]

Bloomberg's Anti-Gun Grassroots

Movement is Astroturf

Does Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety really have "two million members"? Is Moms Demand Action really "a powerful grassroots network of moms"? Or are these just front groups that consist of a handful of Bloomberg hirelings, pretending to represent more people than they do, to trick Americans into submitting to their fanatically-obsessed employer's will? It turns out it may all be nothing more than a clever scheme to make it appear as if there is a large body of support when in fact there isn't. It's called astroturfing when political, corporate or other special interests disguise themselves and publish blogs, start Facebook or Twitter accounts, publish ads and letters to the editor, or simply post comments online to try to fool you into thinking an independent or grassroots movement is speaking. The whole point of astroturfing is to try to give the impression that there's widespread support for or against an agenda when there's not. Astroturf seeks to manipulate you into changing your opinion by making you feel as if you're an outlier when you're not. President Obama's attempt to promote gun control during his 2013 State of the Union address was astroturfing as was Bloomberg's subsequent claim that 90 percent of Americans support mandatory background checks on private transfers of firearms. Status of Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Legislation

Last week NRA updated you on the status of all NRA-supported Right-to-Carry Reciprocity bills in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House. NRA fully supports efforts to require states to respect an individual's right to self-defense no matter what state they are in. Each bill saw an increase in cosponsorship this week. Again, NRA urges you to please encourage your elected officials, if they are not current cosponsors, to support these important bills.

S. 498 - Introduced by U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), this legislation would respect the rights of individuals who possess concealed carry permits from their home state, or who are not prohibited from carrying concealed in their home state, to exercise those rights in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. H.R. 923, introduced by U.S. Representative Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.), is the House companion bill to S. 498.

H.R. 986 - Introduced by U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), this bill would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. H.R. 402 - Introduced by U.S. Representative Rich Nugent (R-Fla.), this bill would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. Anti-gun Bigotry? There's an App for That

In a world that could seriously use a cure for cancer, a solution to chronic poverty or a plan to halt social disintegration, researchers at the University of California San Diego have a bigger crusade and are beta-testing an app that will allow anyone to anonymously post locations on a map where they have a "gun-related safety concern" and further allow them to comment on the nature of the concern which can then be viewed by anyone who has the app. The Gun Geo Marker Mark 1 App has several categories under which users can post including: frequent unlawful discharge, illegal firearms, unlocked/loaded/unsafe storage, and insufficient safety or training. The developers' description of the latter category states, "First-time gun owners or others who may not have not taken basic gun safety training, or who were not raised in a culture of gun safety, might use guns in an unsafe way at certain locations that might be worth marking."
