Hunting Shack Munitions has introduced its new .257 Weatherby Magnum round designed to deliver consistent, high-velocity killing energy at extended ranges. It sends a 115-grain Berger VLD bullet through a standard 24-inch hunting rifle barrel (not test barrel) at more than 3,300 fps-with greater energy than a 150-grain .30-06 round! The HSM round is unlike any traditional hunting load because the bullet is designed to penetrate 2-4 inches of soft tissue then fragment in such a manner that it does not exit and therefore dumps massive shock and energy into the animal for quick, humane kills.

ISIS in America
David A. Lombardo
Recently a Facebook post by a United States Marine went viral because it expressed what millions of Americans are thinking.
In it he wrote, "As I sit here constantly hearing and watching you execute innocent men, women and children in the Middle East I chuckle. Why do I chuckle you may ask? Well let me explain something to you cowardice fools who think you are so tough behind all your propaganda videos. You are scaring a population that doesn't know how to fight, you're bullying the weak. You say Islam is the religion of peace, but since when does terrorizing the innocent and beheading men, women and children constitute peace?"
With regard to ISIS' threat to fly their flag over the White House, he wrote, "Remember we are armed to the teeth in the US and I can promise you this... the Geneva Conventions will not apply to you. You attack us and there will be no mercy. We will bring the righteous hand of God down upon you and crush you. The ball is in your court now ISIS. We are more than ready to arrange your so called 'meeting' with your 72 virgins and send you to your 'prophet' Mohamed."
Anyone who has seen the movie Red Dawn will doubtless cheer this Marine's post, but is it realistic? Let's look at the facts. There are approximately 21.2 million veterans in the United States-men and women whom Uncle Sam trained to be effective fighters. Add to that approximately 600,000 law enforcement officers and a huge number of civilians who are active participants in action shooting sports such as the International Defensive Pistol Association and other real-life scenario-based events that train shooters in close quarter combat skills. Now add into the mix approximately 276 million firearms legally owned by U.S. citizens.
Marry all that with two other facts. First we're not a bunch of uneducated morons running around in sandals carrying junk equipment scavenged from some garbage pile in a third world country. Americans have ready access to highly sophisticated weapons and equipment through countless mail order businesses. And, second, we're Americans, and we're not like anyone else on the planet. Despite what this president would have you believe, we really are exceptional.
It is Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto who has been credited with saying, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
While the authenticity of the quote has been challenged, the sentiment has not. Ask the Japanese about waking the sleeping giant or the Germans or the Soviets. We're Americans, and we're unlike any other country on Earth. Sure, we bicker with one another incessantly, but when the you-know-what hits the fan, Americans have always put aside their differences and stood shoulder-to-shoulder to form the most awesome fighting force in the world-and that has been on foreign shores. Imagine the resolve on our own soil.
Hundreds of armed citizens rushed to protect a bunch of cows on a Nevada ranch when the feds flexed too much muscle. In the end, they forced the government to back down. What do you think will happen the first time some ISIS group kills a bunch of kids at a Little League game or beheads some neighborhood soccer mom because she's a Christian?
Factions such as ISIS use our rule of law, our orderly system of government with checks-and-balances, against us because they don't have to play by the same rules we force ourselves to follow. If we bombed them into the Stone Age, it would socially advance them 500 years. These people are the roaches of society, and Americans are getting fed up with the way our current government is handling the situation.
If ISIS brings the fight to America, blood will run in the streets, but it will be theirs. Americans are increasingly spoiling for a fight, and the sentiment is screw the rule of law and take them on, on their own terms. If that happens those Neanderthals will learn Americans are not lambs to be slaughtered but rather wolves to be reckoned with. The sleeping giant will be awakened, and there will be hell to pay.

Bill Gates gives $1 million to gun control push
Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda have together donated $1 million to the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility, a gun control advocacy group, according to its most recent financial report with Washington State. The contributions by the couple, who are now full-time philanthropists running the foundation bearing their names, are only the most recent big-dollar donations from billionaires who made their fortunes from the software company. Previously Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen gave $500,000 to the group, while recently retired Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave $250,000 and his wife Connie contributed $330,000. And it's not just Microsoft billionaires throwing big bucks at the gun control campaign. Tech venture capitalist Nick Hanauer contributed an additional $1 million, according to the filing, on top of his earlier contributions of $335,000. The Alliance is backing a ballot measure in the state this November that would require background checks for all gun purchases in the state, including those made at gun shows and online. The measure is opposed by a local group known as Protect Our Gun Rights, which has raised $1.1 million and has its own measure on the ballot to try to block background checks.

Reagan National: No ChildSafe public service ads
The National Shooting Sports Foundation's Project ChildSafe is the industry's longstanding program to promote safe firearms storage. Since 2003 Project ChildSafe has partnered with law enforcement agencies in all 50 states to distribute more than 36 million safety kits, including cable-style locks. Now funded solely by the firearms industry and charitable donations from the public, the program in its early days was backed by a federal grant. "Project ChildSafe is not all that controversial. Even as anti-gun organizations appropriate the term 'gun safety' for their own purposes, they have had trouble finding fault with what is a true gun safety program and are largely silent about it," wrote Larry Keane, NSSF's senior vice president and general counsel. So in another way to reach out and inform the public, the NSSF decided to run electronic and fixed advertising in the nation's airports. Five of six airports contacted are running the ads: Hartford-Springfield, Las Vegas, Little Rock, Providence and St. Louis. Guess which airport refused? Washington, DC's Reagan National. According to Keane, calls to the airport authority to find the right person to talk with were unreturned. "Remember, we only set out to buy some airport ads-the same ones five other airports accepted. Are we encountering a lack of transparency or accountability? We have a lot of collective experience with government agencies, and it sure looks that way to us. And we're not the only ones to think so," Keane said. [Source: National Shooting Sports Foundation]

NYC council to treat gun owners like sex offenders
Several members of New York's City Council want to create a public "gun offender" registry modeled after current sex offender registries, which would ultimately list names, addresses and photos of New Yorkers who violate gun control laws. In a recent press release, council member Costa Constantinides, who is sponsoring the proposal, says the registry will be updated on a monthly basis and will include "the offender's name, block on which they live, a physical description, the crime the offender was convicted of, and sentence imposed. This online gun offender registry bill will promote public safety and guarantee our communities are notified when a registered gun offender lives within their neighborhood," he claimed. Constantinides and his fellow council members also claimed the gun offender registry would help combat gun violence. "In reality, this legislation-just like every other law targeting 'gun crime'-has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with politics," Kentucky blogger Bluegrass Bruce wrote. "If Constantinides were truly interested in public safety, the proposed database would include all violent criminals-not just the ones who use guns. And make no mistake, thousands of non-violent New York citizens who violate unconstitutional gun control laws will end up in the database."

California 10-day waiting period unconstitutional
A federal judge has ruled that California's 10-day waiting period for gun purchases is unconstitutional. The challenge was made by California gun owners Jeffrey Silvester and Brandon Combs, as well as two gun rights groups, The Calguns Foundation and Second Amendment Foundation (SAF). In the recently released decision, Federal Eastern District of California Senior Judge Anthony W. Ishii, appointed to the bench by President Bill Clinton, found that "the 10-day waiting period violates the Second Amendment" as applied to members of certain classifications, like Silvester and Combs, and "burdens the Second Amendment rights of the Plaintiffs." "This is a great win for Second Amendment civil rights and common sense. I couldn't be happier with how this case turned out," said Jeff Silvester, the named individual plaintiff. Under the court order, the California Department of Justice must change its systems to accommodate the unobstructed release of guns to gun buyers who pass a background check and possess a California license to carry a handgun or who hold a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the DOJ and already possess at least one firearm known to the state. "This ruling clearly addressed the issue we put before the court," said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. "We are naturally delighted with the outcome."
