Dystopia 101

David A. Lombardo

In the June 5th Chicago Tribune liberal columnist Rex Huppke, referring to Chris Cox, the NRA's Executive Director of the Institute for Legislative Action, accused Cox of using the stabbing and shooting rampage near the University of California at Santa Barbara as "an indictment on gun control, bemoaning gun control laws that leave people defenseless." To which he added, "All we need now is a quick dose of fear mongering."

Liberals like Huppke are fond of accusing conservatives of manufacturing a baseless, fear-mongering sentiment that the federal government wants to confiscate all firearms and take away the Bill of Rights. When it comes to claiming there is no hidden federal agenda to confiscate all firearms and take away the Bill of Rights, liberals generally fall into one of two possible categories.

Journalistic hacks like Huppke fall into the category of people that need a colonoscopy to find their brains. They're ideologues who actually believe what they're saying and buy into the talking points fed to them by the Obama White House.

The second group consists of lying SOBs who are in fact doing everything possible to confiscate all firearms, take away the Bill of Rights and implement a dystopian society in which they will be the elite ruling class exempted from whatever Draconian, anti-freedom laws they pass.

The standard bearers of this anti-American, anti-democracy movement include Obama, Joe Biden, Eric Holder, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, an assortment of political bagmen, a few million dead guys who continue to vote to keep these traitors in office, and Diane Feinstein.

You remember Dianne Feinstein, the Senator from California who sponsored the 1994 assault-weapon ban. By its 2004 sunset, it was obvious to anyone who didn't have their head buried where the sun don't shine that the ban had no effect on crime whatsoever. Unfazed by hard statistics, Feinstein publicly stated she wanted a tougher law to replace it.

Feinstein is quoted as saying, "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate to ban them all-Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in-I would have done it!" She is also quoted as saying, "My view of guns is simple. I hate guns and I cannot imagine why anyone would want to own one. If I had my way, guns for sport would be registered, and all other guns would be banned." It's an odd statement considering she had a concealed carry permit herself.

Baseless and paranoid exaggerations-I don't think so. Prior to his presidency, about the only thing Obama actually did as a politician was support anti-Second Amendment legislation. He endorsed a total ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. He opposed right-to-carry laws. He voted to ban nearly all common hunting rifle ammunition. Since becoming our Commander in Grief, Obama has consistently done anything he could, including end-runs around Congress, to neutralize gun owners and NRA voters as a political force in national elections.

Obama continues to prosecute a war against the Second Amendment through legislation, litigation, regulation, executive orders, judicial fiat and international treaties. He appointed Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan; both are virulently anti-Second Amendment. His nomination of Dr. Vivek Murthy for Surgeon General was so blatantly anti-Second Amendment that even Congress couldn't swallow that much BS and shot him down-metaphorically speaking, of course.

Obama Attorney General appointee Eric Holder decided to gin up some statistics that would justify increased gun control legislation. Operation Fast and Furious was an attempt to artificially manufacture evidence that would suggest more than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States. Holder sold weapons illegally to Mexican drug cartels to make it appear that U.S. gun dealers were supplying guns to the narco-terrorists. The operation was to be Holder's little secret until it splashed above the fold on the nation's newspapers because of the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

And what of Congressional oversight, those precious checks and balances that are supposed to keep things on an even keel? Obama has proven if Congress won't enact anti-Second Amendment legislation, he'll do it through unconstitutional executive orders.

But then these are liberals; a hundred of them couldn't muster up enough brain power to keep a rat moving down a single passage to a dish of food. You think I'm exaggerating? How about this quote from Washington D.C.'s Mayor Marion Barry: "Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country." I'm afraid both the rat and Americans are doomed.

Feds accuse Kansas firearm distributor of

bribes and kickbacks to Glock execs

A Kansas firearms distributor was indicted this week on federal charges of paying more than $1 million in bribes and kickbacks to Glock executives, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. John Sullivan Ralph, III, 40, Olathe, Kansas, who was owner of Global Guns & Hunting Inc. of Olathe, Kansas, doing business as OMB Guns, is charged with one count of conspiracy, 11 counts of wire fraud and 10 counts of money laundering.

The indictment alleges Ralph secretly paid executives of Glock to receive preferential treatment over other distributors of firearms, including directing potential customers to his company, giving his company priority access to limited products, steering government contracts and sales to government agencies of firearms and accessories to his company, and providing confidential Glock information to him.

Also similarly charged were James "Craig" Dutton, 42, Acworth, Georgia, who was the assistant national sales manager for Glock; Lisa Delaine Dutton, 42, Acworth, Georgia, who was Craig Dutton's wife and who formed a company called Supreme Solutions LLC; Welcome D. "Bo" Wood, Jr., 65, Oviedo, Florida, who was the Eastern Regional Manager for Glock; and Paula Ann Wood, 63, Oviedo, Florida, who was Bo Wood's wife, and who formed a company called Tropical Marketing & Consulting LLC. The two women are alleged to have concealed payments of bribes and kickbacks.

The indictment alleges Wood and Dutton provided Ralph with equipment and software to allow him to convert firearms sold with the law enforcement discount to firearms sold at the premium price to the commercial market. Ralph is alleged to have sold at least 14,000 pistols to commercial buyers-including Cabela's-which Glock sold to Ralph for resale to law enforcement agencies.

The indictment alleges that from 2003 to 2009, Ralph used the U.S. Postal Service to send and receive approximately 140 bribes and kickbacks that were delivered to defendants Lisa Dutton and Paula Wood. Between 2009 and 2011, the indictment alleges, Ralph used wire transfers to send approximately 80 bribes and kickbacks.

Upon conviction, the crimes carry the following penalties: Conspiracy: A maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison and a fine up to $1 million. Wire fraud: A maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison and a fine up to $1 million on each count. Money laundering: A maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine up to $50,000 on each count.

Proposed constitutional amendment

would restrict free speech

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has promised the Senate will take up a proposed constitutional amendment this year that would radically alter the First Amendment. It would allow Congress to limit fundraising and spending on election campaigns and independent political speech. Having lost the battle at the Supreme Court, Reid and his cohorts are now pushing this constitutional amendment to reverse Supreme Court decisions that protect the rights of Americans to speak their minds about elected officials and candidates and to engage in the political process. Shutting down conservative speech certainly appears to be a motivating factor behind this push to amend the First Amendment. Reid has given many interviews and speeches on the Senate floor demonizing Charles and David Koch for "dumping unseemly amounts of money" into politics, "rigg[ing] the system" and "trying to buy the country." Of course he never mentions efforts by big Democratic contributors, such as George Soros and the SEIU. The proposed amendment expressly exempts the press so the New York Times and MSNBC may continue to spend as much money, newsprint and airtime as they want to support their preferred candidates or attack those they oppose, but the Kochs and other Americans would be severely restricted in their political activity and speech. The proposed amendment would also protect incumbent politicians. Allowing Congress to regulate the raising and spending of money in campaigns will tie the hands of candidates seeking to unseat them. California Dems propose

anyone can suspend a citizen's 2A rights

Democratic California Assembly Members Nancy Skinner (Berkeley) and Das Williams (Santa Barbara) have introduced Assembly Bill 1014. It would allow anyone to ask a court for a "Gun Violence Restraining Order" and "firearms seizure warrant" against California gun owners. California gun owners could face a loss of their Second Amendment gun rights and confiscation of their firearms without prior warning. The proposed law allows the government up to two weeks following the issuance of a restraining order to set a hearing in which the subject of the order could argue for the reinstatement of their Second Amendment rights and return of any firearms seized. According to the bill's text, courts would be required to issue a restraining order if a person-who doesn't even have to know the target of the order-submits a form saying that a gun owner "poses a significant risk of personal injury to himself, herself, or others by owning or possessing" guns. But the restraining orders aren't the only problem with the bill. It would also mandate that courts order a "firearms seizure warrant" following a restraining order, forcing police and local law enforcement to "seize any firearms in the possession of the named person...from any place, or from any person in whose possession the firearm may be."

Measure to boost background check system

passes U.S. House

The U.S. House of Representatives voted 260 to 145 this week in favor of an amendment that will provide an additional $19.5 million for the FBI's National Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to help states improve their data gathering and submission systems. The supplementary $19.5 million brings the total NICS allocation in 2015 to $78 million. The amendment was authored by U.S. Representatives Pete King (R-NY), Mike Thompson (D-CA), Joe Heck (R-NV), Mike Quigly (D-IL), Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) and Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA). In a joint press release, the representatives emphasized the need for improving how NICS gathers data and the funds needed to make those improvements. "Our national criminal background check system is only as good as the data you put in it, and right now all the information isn't getting into the system," said the six Representatives in a statement. "When this happens, we can't enforce the law, and criminals, domestic abusers, or dangerously mentally ill individuals who otherwise wouldn't pass a background check can slip through the cracks and buy guns. Our bipartisan amendment addresses this dangerous shortfall of information by providing states with the resources they need to get their records into the criminal background checks system." The amendment is supported by Everytown for Gun Safety, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the Sandy Hook Promise. The House measure now heads to the Senate for approval.
