HatsanUSA has extended their AT-P PCP air pistol line with the release of the AT-P2. It uses the same AT-P1 design but gives users the option of an extendable stock for a steadier shot and increased accuracy. The AT-P2's pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) power system further aids in accuracy by utilizing a 50cc air cylinder with 200 bar fill (3000 PSI) that is designed specifically to shoot high-density lead pellets at velocities as high as 870fps. By shooting heavier and more-dense pellets than other airgun manufacturers that use alloy aluminum pellets, both accuracy and energy upon impact are vastly increased. It is available in .177cal (870fps), .22cal (780fps) and .25cal (710fps) and utilizes a side lever action. MSRP: $720.00.

Editorial
Liberalism is a social disease
David A. Lombardo
I have never understood the liberal mentality that promotes the idea that somehow by disarming law abiding citizens, you'll have less violent crime. One only has to look at the real world to understand that when you make it easier for a predator, you get more predators. It's as true for humans as it is for wolves. As John Steinbeck wrote, "An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity."
The fact is with 50 states having concealed carry, there isn't one shred of documented evidence that indicates law abiding citizens with concealed firearms result in any statistically significant increase in violent crime. A study done at the University of Chicago reviewed crime statistics in every county in the United States from 1977 to 1992. It found passing concealed carry laws reduced their rate of murder by 8.5%, aggravated assault by 7% and robbery by three percent.
Of course gun control isn't about guns; it's about control. And in the war of words, liberals shine when something bad happens, such as the most recent shooting at Fort Hood. To be blunt, Fort Hood is one outhouse full of hardened combat troops, so how does one whack-job with a .45 caliber pistol take it over? You guessed it: liberal dogma. Somewhere between Monica and a cheeseburger, William Jefferson Clinton disarmed all military bases. Thousands of battle-tested troops live and work at Fort Hood, and not one of them was armed. And what's Bloomberg's response? We need more gun control.
Self-reliant, tax-paying, hard-working, drug-test-passing, non-felony-convicted, military-supporting Americans whose eyes tear up when singing the Star Spangled Banner are fed up with a nanny state in which they pay for those who are too lazy to get off their fat ass and get a job.
We're tired of hearing that the Bill of Rights is a living document. Bull. It is a contract between a sovereign nation and its citizens specifically to guarantee that, should the government run amok, John Q. has the right to kick its ass-and that also goes for any world organization that thinks it can tell Americans how to run their own country. Most of the third world psychotic leaders who run the U. N. would be speaking either German or Japanese if it weren't for the United States and her allies.
We're tired of the only president in history that can make James Earl Carter look good. We're tired of some self-important elected official surrounded by body guards telling us why we shouldn't own firearms to protect our families. We're fed up with some dirtbag foreign guy who got richer than God by crushing the economy of other countries so he could come here and pour billions of dollars into trying to convert our capitalistic society into socialism. Guess what George, we like things just the way they are.
We're Americans. We believe owning an iPhone should be the result of hard work not a government handout. We believe if our neighbor is down on his luck, it's our duty to help him not to make him a ward of the nanny state for life. We believe that taking risks in an attempt to better ourselves sometimes yields rough times, and we'll deal with it without the government's help.
We don't give a rat's butt if some sports team's mascot offends us; we just won't go watch them play. We think calling the United States a Judeo-Christian country is just fine. And when someone says Happy Hanukah to me, I'm not offended; I just smile and say Happy Hanukah back. He's wishing me well, you morons.
I'd love to see our town squares once again home to a Cross, Star of David, even a Crescent Moon or any other religious symbol if that religion preaches love and tolerance. We're Americans; we believe everyone has an equal right to religious expression even if it's not the same as ours. If you don't like that, go crawl back under whatever third world rock you crawled out from under.
The classic liberal is a pompous, holier-than-thou personality that assumes everyone else is too stupid to understand important issues and lead their own life as they see fit. Midterm elections are coming up. For heaven's sake, put down your deer burger, become a volunteer and get involved in the political process now before it's too late. Liberalism is a social disease and voting is the antibiotic.

Certification revoked for concealed carry instructor offering Internet courses
The Illinois State Police has revoked the certification of a Bolingbrook firearms instructor who was found to be offering concealed carry classes over the Internet. According to state law students must have 16 hours of in-person classroom instruction before being allowed to apply for a concealed carry permit, said State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond. In addition the instructor was offering as few as eight hours of instruction, Bond said. A total of 327 applicants trained by the instructor will be notified that their application has been denied due to improper training. Those applicants will have the opportunity to take the course again with a different instructor without paying another $150 application fee; they also will be allowed to appeal the denial by submitting a written petition through the State Police's administrative review process. Police are turning their findings over to the Will County State's Attorney's Office to help determine if sanctions against the firearms instructors are appropriate. To date 13 firearms instructors have lost their state certification to teach Illinois Concealed Carry curricula, and 425 applicants have been notified of invalid training, according to a news release issued by the State Police. Reid: Insufficient votes for
Senate background check bill
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said that any legislation to expand the current National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) will not be considered on the Senate floor following Wednesday's shooting involving an apparently mentally unstable soldier at Fort Hood in Texas. While Reid pledged last year to bring gun-control legislation back to the floor, he now says there are insufficient votes for passage, and he won't move a bill until he can count enough positive votes. Reid understands very clearly that any vote to expand background checks would pose a huge political problem for vulnerable red-state Democrats seeking reelection this year. The most recent Gallup poll found Americans' dissatisfaction with U.S. gun laws and policies has increased to 55%, nearly matching the high of 57% in 2001. Forty percent are satisfied, down from the historical average of 47% since Gallup began asking this question in this way in 2001. Support for making gun laws stricter fell to 31% from 38% last January. Americans have become more dissatisfied with gun laws over the past year, but this is attributable to a greater percentage who say gun laws are too strict, rather than not being strict enough.

Illinois House passes bill to authorize bobcat season
Over the past century the bobcat population in Illinois went through a drastic decline. In 1977 the state took steps to ensure the future of the species by adding bobcats to the threatened species list. Those steps worked, and in 1999 Illinois officials removed the recovered population from the list. Since then the population has continued to thrive, more than doubling since 2000. Now Illinois sportsmen may soon have the opportunity to hunt bobcats under legislation passed last week by the House of Representatives. House Bill 4226, sponsored by Representative Wayne Rosenthal (R-95), repeals the current prohibition on taking bobcats in the state, giving the Department of Natural Resources the authority to establish a bobcat season as part of their management plan. HB 4226 passed the House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 91-20 on March 27th. "Bobcat populations are continuing to grow and thrive in Illinois," said Adam Wright, USSA Associate Director of State Services. "This bill will give the Illinois DNR the tools they need to control the bobcat populations while providing an opportunity for sportsmen." Today the state's DNR estimates that population has reached more than 5,000 with a majority of the bobcats residing in the southern tier of the state. [Source: The U.S. Sportsman's Alliance]

NSSF, SAAMI seek injunction
to stop unworkable microstamping law
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI) have filed a motion for a preliminary injunction on behalf of their members against the State of California in Fresno Superior Court to prevent enforcement of the state's microstamping law. Under the proposed law, firearms manufacturers would have to micro laser-engrave a gun's make, model and serial number on two distinct parts of each handgun including the firing pin so that, in theory, this information would be imprinted on the cartridge casing when the pistol is fired. "The holder of the patent for this technology himself has written that there are problems with it and that further study is warranted before it is mandated. A National Academy of Science review, forensic firearms examiners and a University of California at Davis study reached the same conclusion, and the technical experts in the firearms industry agree," NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane, said. "Manufacturers cannot comply with a law the provisions of which are invalid, that cannot be enforced and that will not contribute to improving public safety." Xtreme Training Academy offers firearm disarming class
Wednesday, April 9th, 2014 - 7:30 - 9:30 PM
Register here
Master instructor Nik Farooqui of Xtreme Training Academy and Street Safe 101 is offering a "Closed Door Session," teaching how to disarm an attacker who has a firearm. SAFER USA highly endorses Nik's program.
"Many people mimic the absurd information they see coming out of Hollywood," Farooqui said. "Let me tell you that nothing is further from reality! Others may teach you complicated fine motor skill techniques that simply do not work under any type of stress or resistance. And often, I even hear people say, 'Now I have concealed carry; I will just shoot the aggressor.' Nice try, but in close quarter combat, by the time you even think about getting to your firearm, it'll be too late. You have to respond, hands-on, quickly and concisely."
The seminar will cover: Understanding distance for successful disarms; How to engage the aggressor; When and when not to disarm; Frontal attacks; Lateral attacks; Rearward attacks; Speed strips; Aggressive/control strips; Following up the disarm; and more.
The cost is $100 online by April 6th or $150 at the door. For more information contact Nik Farooqui at 630-780-0054.
