Federal Premium has introduced an online Ballistics Calculator on FederalPremium.com. The tool allows users to quickly determine trajectories for any Federal Premium rifle or handgun load by simply entering the applicable data. Reloaders can also use it for handloads. Users who create a profile can save an unlimited number of loads for future reference. The calculator can manipulate multiple variables such as temperature, elevation, wind speed, sight height and zero range. It displays results in inches, centimeters, MOA or Mils. Wind drift, vertical drop, velocity and energy can be calculated out to 2,000 yards. Finally I can prove to doubters that, all things being equal, if you shoot either uphill or downhill without the proper correction your shot placement will be high.

The measure of a man

The measure of a man is the worth of his word. If this president were a Republican, he'd have been impeached a year ago. Look, I'm not so naïve as to think the president of the United States has to tell the truth all the time. 

 

 When the press asks, "Mr. President, will the United States invade Berserkistan?", the president, knowing full well the troops are loading onto the aircraft at that very moment, is going to lie. What would you expect? Tell the truth, lose tactical advantage and kill off a few hundred American G.I.s as they hit ground zero? Of course not. Some things are not for public consumption for tactical and other reasons. 

 

 

But when the president of the United States looks directly into the camera and says, "If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what....You can keep your family doctor," you sort of got the impression you can keep your health care plan under the Affordable Health Care Act. Truth is, if John Q knew before the last election what a sham Obamacare was, we'd have a Republican in the White House. 

 

Make no mistake, every president in my recollection has waffled, fibbed or outright lied to the public at some point, but this president has long since set and surpassed the Guinness Book of World Record's Lying President record. Worse, the media has given him a pass on just about every one of them. 

 

 "Eighty percent of Americans support including higher taxes as part of the [debt ceiling] deal." Interesting considering a Rasmussen poll that same week indicated only 34 percent supported a tax hike as part of the deal. The rest of the Americans were at work and couldn't be reached.

 

 "If we have not gotten our troops out [of Iraq] by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do." I think the first thing he did was take a vacation, but in any event, bailing out of Iraq wasn't it. 

 

 "Today I'm pledging to cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term in office." Okay, this one is a bit iffy because he wanted to increase the debt by $10 trillion, and in liberalese increasing the debt by only $5 trillion is considered "cutting" the debt. 

 

"As soon as we're out of this recession, we've got to get serious about starting to live within our means." Well, you know, like the late, great, Illinois Senator Dirksen once said, "A billion here and a billion there and before you know it, it starts to add up." 

"We've got shovel-ready projects all across the country." Well, that one is kind of true. After all, he's buried our great-grandchildren in debt. 

 

"The Benghazi attack was a result of an anti-Muslim video." How would he even know? He was sleeping in Las Vegas before attending a fundraiser. As one pundit noted, that excuse was designed to shield Hillary Clinton, "to clear a path for when she makes the decision that she wants to run for president which, by the way, she decided around the middle of Bill's second term."

 

"We reject the use of national security...to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime." True, true, you know, except for the drones, wiretapping, video cameras on street corners and monitoring personal email and text messages of U.S. citizens and high-ranking officials of other countries. 

 

"We are going to work with you to lower your [health care] premiums by $2,500 and we'll do it by the end of my first term as president." See, here's the thing: what you didn't notice is he was talking to Congress when he made that statement not to John Q. 

 

And my personal favorite: "I pledge to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." As I said, the measure of a man is the worth of his word. If this president were a Republican, he'd have been impeached a year ago, prosecuted and working in a prison library instead of planning to build one of his own.

Pub posts sign calling gun owners

"losers" and "douchebags"

 

A South Carolina pub owner posted a sign calling gun owners with concealed carry permits "losers" and "douchebags." The "No Concealed Weapons Allowed" sign at the Backstreet Pub & Deli in Clemson, South Carolina, has caused a nationwide negative reaction from Second Amendment supporters thanks to its having been posted on the Twitchy website. Specifically the sign says, "NO CONCEALED WEAPONS ALLOWED. If you are such a loser that you feel a need to carry a gun with you when you go out, I do not want your business. Douchebag." The resulting backlash in social media urging a boycott of the establishment has apparently had an effect. The pub's owner, known only as Pete, recently said in the press that what he said "came out wrong." He didn't explain how a printed sign could come out wrong. Apparently there aren't proofreaders in Clemson. Pete admitted he had to turn off the phone for several days due to the significant volume of angry telephone calls. Referring to himself as a conservative Democrat and a concealed carry holder, he told reporters that he regrets using the rude language which, no doubt, had nothing to do with the significant decrease in his daily business. You have to love the liberal mentality: take a hard stand for what you believe in unless it becomes inconvenient.

 

 Feinstein seeks firearm import ban

 

The NRA Institute for Legislative Affairs is reporting that U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), sponsor of federal "assault weapon" and "large" magazine ban of 1994-2004, is asking President Barack Obama to direct the BATFE to reinterpret a provision of the Gun Control Act of 1968 to prohibit the importation of various semi-automatic firearms and their parts. In a letter to Obama, Feinstein said that, "at a minimum," the BATFE should: prohibit importation of all semiautomatic rifles that can accept, or be readily converted to accept, a large capacity ammunition magazine of more than 10 rounds...prohibit semiautomatic rifles with fixed magazines with a capacity of more than 10 rounds, prohibit the importation of the frame or receiver of any prohibited rifle...prohibit the practice of importing assault rifles in parts...prohibit the use of a "thumbhole" stock...and prohibit the importation of assault pistols. One might think it doesn't make sense for Feinstein to agitate for gun control in an election year, especially one in which a number of anti-gun senators are going to be facing the voters. However, she is religiously committed to gun control and has been for a long time.

ISRA reports Illinois lawmakers

seek to restrict gun rights

 

In his March 20th ISRA Thursday Bulletin, executive director Richard Pearson noted when it became inevitable that Illinois would finally enact concealed carry, leaders of the pro-self-defense movement began preparing for the political and legislative backlash that was sure to follow. Pearson notes the introduction of several pieces of proposed legislation in Springfield, including SB2669 introduced by Sen. Don Harmon that would change the law and only permit persons to carry defensive firearms where and when signs are displayed specifically stating that concealed carry was allowed.  A similar bill (HB4779) was introduced in the House by Rep. Emanuel Welch. SB3559, introduced by Sen. Kwame Raoul, would prohibit concealed carry permit holders from having more than one firearm or more than 10 rounds of ammunition on their person. SB3561 and 3572, introduced by Sen. Dan Kotowski, would each have the state step in and direct churches and other houses of worship to prohibit concealed firearms on their property. And HB4517, introduced by Rep. Kenneth Dunkin, would prohibit concealed carry in all restaurants, regardless of whether or not alcohol is served. Bronx lawmakers push for statewide gun registry

 

New York is at it again. This time Time Warner Cable News reports the state Senate passed its budget resolution, which included a little-noticed program to institute a statewide gun registry. "Last year, borough president Ruben Diaz, Jr., from the Bronx actually proposed this. We talked about it, and this was something that I fought last year to get in our one-house budget resolution," said state Senate Independent Democratic Conference Leader Jeff Klein. "I think it makes common sense 'cause it's really modeled after Megan's Law database for sexual predators." The registry would include the names of people who had recently been convicted of a gun crime. According to Bronx elected officials, it would cost $2.5 million, a relatively small amount of money in a $137 billion state budget. "When you look at the amount of gun violence that happens in the Bronx, it's good for people to know who certain residents are, who their neighbors are that may have been in trouble with a gun in the past," said Assemblyman Carl Heastie of the Bronx. "So it's like a safety measure." "There are so many different registries that we have, so it seems almost like a no-brainer that we would have a registry of people recently convicted of gun crimes," said Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz of the Bronx.
