ILLINOIS CONCEALED CARRY UPDATE
  
As of last Thursday, the Illinois State Police has activated the instructor and course approval process. SAFER USA applied for both instructor and course credentials the same day. The ISP has said they should be able to process the first wave of applications within about two weeks. We may very likely begin teaching Illinois Concealed Carry courses toward the end of September.
  
When we have courses on the schedule we will first announce it to our readers and listeners as follows:

 NRA BASIC PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE

Saturday, September 7th, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Clinton Township Center; 160 W. Lincoln Hwy; Waterman, IL

Equipment required: .Hearing and eye protection, baseball cap and clothing suitable for the weather. Shooting exercises are conducted on the Aurora Sportsmen's Club outdoor range.

 

Course Description: This beginner's handgun course includes both classroom and shooting instruction on the range. Students learn the National Rifle Association's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Beretta U22 Neo .22 caliber semi-automatic pistols and ammunition are provided. These pistols are easy to operate and have minimal recoil.

Course Description: This beginner's shotgun course includes both classroom and shooting instruction on the Illinois State Rifle Association's range. Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.

 

Both adult and youth model Remington 870 pump action 20 gauge shotguns and 20 gauge shot shells are provided. They have been selected for their low recoil and widespread popularity among recreational shooters and hunters.
