On Target Radio will cover the red meat issues

David A. Lombardo

Okay, I admit it; I was naïve when we started On Target Radio 10 months ago. I thought covering Second amendment issues was good enough. Candidly, before last September 16th I didn't follow those hot button issues that cause us to spit out coffee in the morning as we read the paper.

I reacted to whatever the issue du jour was, squawked about it for a day or so then promptly forgot about it. You'd be surprised how facing 39 minutes and 50 seconds of dead air on the A.M. dial can induce you to gather news items like a squirrel hoarding nuts in September. And hoard nuts I did; I started paying close attention to a lot of nuts.

Every morning I got my daily dose of Chicago's Ballerina In Chief, the messiah and his Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, King Madigan and his spawn Lisa, and a host of other nefarious ne'er-do-wells all bent on making sure John Q had absolutely no chance of protecting himself, his family or his trusty Golden Retriever.

The more I read the paper and sought out diverse sources of news, the more I realized there's a thread that runs through all our lives called liberalism and its sole purpose is to make voters totally reliant upon big government for even the most mundane aspects of our lives.

We're living in a society where the tail is wagging the dog; our government has gotten out of control. A government that tells us we're not supposed to defend ourselves but instead be tolerant and understanding about religious fanatics who kill us by the score.

A government that sends the IRS to persecute anyone who belongs to a group the government doesn't like. A government that thinks it's okay to intentionally sells guns to drug cartels, watch us 24/7 by satellite, hear us when we communicate in pretty much any medium you have, and shoot us from the sky if they so much as think we're a terrorist and they decide what constitutes being a terrorist.

We have a government that's telling us our constitution is outdated and individuals don't really have absolute rights; that the government can tell us what rights they will allow us to have. We're saddled with a government that encourages an ever-increasing number of bums to suck the life out of an ever-decreasing number of productive workers in the name of fairness.

Personally, I'm fed up with what's happened to our country and to that new minority composed of good, hard-working Americans who foot the bill for everything from the United Nations to Michele Obama's outrageous vacation junkets.

So here's the deal - On Target Radio is broadening its horizons. We'll still cover Second Amendment issues but we're also going to start covering issues that infringe on our First Amendment rights, issues that make it difficult to protect our families and to choose how we spend our hard earned money.

In short, On Target Radio is going to cover the red meat issues that stick in the craw of John Q. If you're like me and want to know when we're going to take back America, stick around every Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. for the new On Target Radio on AM560 THE ANSWER.

Illinois A.G. still fighting concealed carry

On Tuesday of this week Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed a motion in the United States District Court for the Southern District, Benton, Illinois division, to dismiss the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) and Mary Shepard case. Madigan is saying that since Illinois has passed a concealed carry law the case is moot and should be dismissed.

On Wednesday, attorneys for the ISRA and Mary Shepard filed a motion requesting a permanent injunction against the State of Illinois because even though the concealed carry bill has passed, people are still not allowed the right to carry and won't be for at least another 270 days. In short, our civil rights are still being violated even though the concealed carry bill has passed.

Furthermore,  because neither the federal court decision nor the new Carry Act have repealed the AUUW and UUW statutes, law enforcement will continue to enforce both statutes unless a citizen has a valid carry license. We have asked for immediate relief by Tuesday, July 16th. We are asking that citizens with FOID cards be allowed to carry in compliance with provisions in HB0183. We will keep you informed with the court's decision. New App targets gun owners

This week's outrage comes to us from a rather unlikely source:  the Google Play app store. The new app is called the Gun Geo Marker and encourages users to "geolocate dangerous guns and owners" in their communities.

According to Google Play, "Geolocation means marking dangerous sites on the App's map so that you and others can be aware of the risks in your neighborhood."

Think about that for a minute.  The purpose of the app--other than sensationalism and profit--is to encourage people to anonymously "flag" locations in their community they subjectively deem "dangerous" and to make that information as public as possible.

The probability for abuse and the certainty of inaccurate "reporting" cannot be overstated.  What's to keep people from marking any location for any reason at all?  Nothing.

The practice is not only a serious invasion of privacy, but would also be just as dangerous and irresponsible as publishing the names of concealed-carry permit holders in local papers. The app could enable thieves to target and steal firearms from law-abiding gun owners, while conversely advertising that other residences are "gun free" and therefore easy targets for criminals.  [Source: NRA/ILA]

Chicago's mayor

continues to subvert concealed carry

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel held a press conference this week to bemoan the fact that Illinois will now finally have shall-issue concealed carry. He said he was glad Illinois was the last state to adopt concealed carry and that he hopes the Illinois General Assembly will allow Chicago to adopt its own stricter concealed carry ordinances. He goes on to say that Chicago is different and that it "needs" gun control. "I thought Illinois was right by being the last state not to adopt concealed carry.  I was glad that we did not adopt that.  Obviously you know the decision that the court -- Federal Court mandated that we had to adopt some policy.  Having effective gun control is essential to providing safety throughout the city. It works in partnership with what you do on policing, what you do on parenting, what you do by prevention," Emanuel said.  "As you know, one of the things we've done 18,000 kids this summer are going to work on our One Chicago, but you have to have effective gun control. I have worked for years, as you know, passing the first Brady bill and the first assault weapon ban and next Wednesday the city council I have full expectation will pass the City of Chicago's assault weapon ban. Gun control is essential."

CCRKBA rips Emanuel

for blaming Chicago's violence on gun rights

Chicago's "weak link" in public safety is not gun control but Mayor Rahm Emanuel's adherence to the stale and ineffective strategies of the gun prohibition lobby, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said. Emanuel told reporters yesterday that his answer to the city's current bloodbath is to ban so-called "assault weapons," which do not appear to be involved in many, if any of the recent shootings and homicides. He also asserts that "comprehensive background checks" would prevent violence, a notion so demonstrably untrue that CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb called it a "perpetuation of an urban myth." "If the city could round up every one of these shooters," Gottlieb said, "they would find that none of them acquired their guns through legal channels, and thus were never subject to a background check and Emanuel knows it. For him to suggest, much less believe, that his city's crime problem would disappear by banning guns and expanding checks on law-abiding citizens is at best delusional. "Mayor Emanuel knows that Chicago's problems are with gangs, not guns, and a criminal element that will ignore any new law or regulation Chicago enacts," he added.
