Sig Sauer is donating 70 custom-engraved pistols to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to help teach Scouts about the safe use of firearms during the organization's 2013 National Scout Jamboree to be held July 15-24 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. The company is engraving the BSA logo onto 54 Mosquito pistols and 16 P250 pistols, which Venturers and Boy Scouts who meet the Venturing age requirement (14-21 years old) will use in their shooting activities at the event. The National Jamboree is held every four years and draws some 50,000 Scouts, Venturers and adult staff members, as well as thousands of daily visitors.

Cabela's ColorPhase is the first camouflage clothing to be printed with rapid-change, temperature-activated dyes. In mild temperatures, these special dyes allow certain elements in the patterns to show as vivid greens that blend perfectly with early-season foliage. When temperatures drop, the greens change to brown or gray. Under typical conditions, ColorPhase changes from warm to cold colors at approximately 65 degrees. Body heat, sunlight, moisture and wind can affect the color-change process. ColorPhase is available in Zonz Woodlands and Zonz Western.

Quinn inks amendatory veto on Concealed Carry Bill
David A. Lombardo
Well here's a real shocker: Governor Quinn wishes everyone a happy Fourth of July and has marked the occasion by further restricting individual rights with an amendatory veto of HB0183 Concealed Carry.
Quinn's red-penned, predictable changes include limiting concealed carry holders to a single firearm, carrying a maximum of 10 rounds of ammunition and a longer list of public places that are off-limits, to name a few.
According to Quinn the changes are in the name of public safety-you know, "it's all about the children"-so he surrounded himself with such public safety experts as Father Michael "Drag gun store owners into the street and kill 'em" Pfleger.
Missing from the bill were: the anticipated statewide assault weapons ban; a 16-page NYC-style concealed carry application; the mandatory registration of all firearms, breakfast pastries and NRA T-shirts; requiring all Republicans to report to reeducation camps; and an amendment barring Attorneys General from running for governor.
So now the ball is back in the legislature's court, and if they fumble it, you can pretty much kiss the practicality of concealed carry goodbye. I know you've heard it a hundred times before, but for the hundred and first time, get on the phone and call your state representative and state senator. Kindly suggest they vote to override the veto or you'll personally arm every school kid in your district with a Pop Tart.
If you think it's a fool's mission, take a look at the Illinois Senate Democrat's web site for a little encouragement, but I suggest you be sitting down when you do. Senator Tom Cullerton, the Senate's Big Kahuna, wrote, "I am disappointed-but not surprised-Governor Quinn waited so long to veto concealed carry while he tried to score political points. Even though he has put lawmakers in a difficult position, I am optimistic that we will be able to override his veto and finally get a law on the books."
And it isn't just Cullerton who's vocally taken up the fight in favor of the concealed carry bill. You'll find a raft of Dems on the record supporting a veto override in favor of concealed carry. Even King Madigan has said the legislature is going to take Quinn to the woodshed over concealed carry. Who'da thunk it? Anyway, you'll have to excuse me now because I'm meeting some friends. We're going ice skating in Hell.

Case against student with NRA T-shirt dismissed
The case against 14-year-old Jared Marcum of Logan, WV, a Logan Middle School honor student, has been dismissed with prejudice. Marcum had been charged with obstructing an officer following an April 18th incident in which a faculty member overreacted to Marcum's NRA t-shirt, despite the fact that the Logan County Schools' Dress Code didn't actually contain a restriction on clothing featuring firearms. Marcum cited the First Amendment and refused to comply with the teacher's demand that he either remove the shirt or turn it inside out. His resistance was met with a call to the local police who ultimately arrested the youth, claiming that his repeated assertions of his rights, even after being warned to be quiet, constituted obstruction of a police officer. Marcum was also given a one-day suspension from school. On June 17th Logan County prosecutors charged Marcum with obstructing a police officer, claiming that Marcum had hindered the responding officer's ability to do his job by "interrupting" and refusing to be quiet when told to do so. The charge carried with it the possibility of up to one year incarceration in a juvenile facility. On June 27th both parties agreed no further legal action would arise from the case. NEA Vice President: NRA, 2nd Amendment Supporters "Are Going to Hell"
Speaking to all 3,000 of the assembled "progressive activists" at this year's Netroots Nation conference, National Education Association Vice President Lily Eskelsen Garcia boldly declared a prophecy about the eternal destiny of NRA and Second Amendment supporters, and of politicians and lobbyists working to promote gun rights: "I'm not an ordained minister; I'm not a theologian, but these guys are going to hell." According to a Mercury News article, the high-ranking NEA officer went on to say, "We have to make those senators as frightened of us as they are of the gun lobby; shame on us if we give one inch to the gun lobby. They got where they are because they never give up....Now the movement is us; we are the ones we were waiting for." That type of radical thinking might explain the very high incidence of ridiculous cases involving over-zealous school officials misinterpreting and wrongly enforcing "zero-tolerance" rules-and doing so without exercising even the smallest measure of sound judgment, discretion or basic common sense. SCI commends Executive Order
on illegal wildlife trafficking
The Safari Club International Foundation reports that President Obama signed an executive order establishing a Presidential Task Force on Wildlife Trafficking. SCI is pleased that the administration has taken such a strong step to combat the growing problems of poaching and illegal wildlife trade. The Task Force will coordinate efforts among federal agencies and work with foreign nations and international bodies to aid in enforcement against crime related to wildlife trafficking. "SCI Foundation looks forward to working with the Taskforce to address the poaching crisis and ensure a sustainable future for Africa's wildlife," stated SCI Foundation President Joe Hosmer. "With over 22% of sub-Saharan Africa protected in hunting preserves, it is vital that the Taskforce get the hunting community involved in this effort and SCI Foundation stands ready to help." The SCI Foundation was also pleased to see that the President took the time to make the distinction between the illegal wildlife trade resulting from poaching and the legal wildlife trade that provides over $200 million dollars in income to rural and underdeveloped African communities through sustainable-use hunting programs.

Anti-gun Supreme Court Justice
getting hunting education
The Atlantic reports that Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, who says hunting is not what they did growing up on the upper West Side of Manhattan, states that it is something she does now. In fact she says she has hunted both game birds and big game with one of her colleagues on the Supreme Court, Justice Antonin Scalia, and now they are planning a duck hunt. In the June 30th article, Kagan said, "I shot myself a deer," referring to a recent big game hunting trip with the conservative justice in Wyoming. You heard that right: despite finding themselves on opposite sides of major court decisions, the liberal Obama appointee and the conservative Reagan appointee have become hunting buddies since Kagan was confirmed in 2010 as the fourth woman in history to sit on the highest court in the land. Kagan said she frequently hunts with Scalia.
