The 36th Annual Anthem Richmond Marathon on Saturday November 16 brings friends and families together with fitness, health, and beautiful fall weather. However, it also brings blocked streets and congested sidewalks. Knowing the best ways to navigate the city during this busy weekend will ensure a stress-free marathon day.
Three different runs will occur on Saturday: an 8k, a half-marathon, and a full marathon. Each race starts near 6th and Broad Street and ends on a downhill slope at 5th and Tredegar Street at Brown's Island and the Canal Walk.
The races begin at 7 a.m. (8k), 7:30 a.m. (half marathon), and 8 a.m. (full marathon). All races should be completed by 3 p.m. The marathon course will reopen to vehicular traffic at 16 minute per mile rates throughout the day.
Below are links to each course map, so you can better prepare alternative routes for your weekend travels. You can also visit the Richmond Marathon website here to view specific road closures and traffic changes.
