Thought for the week

Have you heard ...

'The mission of Jesus'?

Matthew 11:1- 19

by Pastor Denis Wade

22nd September 2013

Denis and Lorna Wade
Jesus gives six proofs of His identity as Messiah: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised from the dead and the good news is preached to the poor.

Pastor Denis  sets out these proofs as fulfillment of prophecy, to give hope to John the Baptist. It's just as important for us to have this assurance today when we start to waver. Listen here to be challenged and inspired.

Africology: Discover black history

Every Saturday in October

1 - 4pm

"I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if they only knew they was slaves."

Harriet Tubman

In celebration of Black History Month this month, Micah member Khareem Jamal will be presenting a special Blach History Month Africology series.

For those of us who don't know, Africology is an American term to describe the study of the history, politics and culture of people from African descent.

This four-week series takes place every Saturday in October (5th, 12th, 19th, 26th), from 1 - 4pm, and will journey quickly tour through the great migration out of Africa and early civilisations, to the slave trade, colonialism and strategies for de-population, the struggle for freedom and the modern resistance movement.

We'll take a look at iconic African and black figures, such as Harriet Tubman, Imhotep, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and more.

This course is for adults and youths over 14 who are interested in exploring black history and its impact today. It's also a great way to test your current knowledge.

Places are limited. Contact Micah to book on 020 8297 5287, or join the Facebook group here.
