Late Fall Greetings! During the summer our friends said that the frigid last winter caused a 2-week delay in everything. And you know what? That's really true when I see the calendar! I pressed the last grapes on November 10th that usually happens in the last week of October. And now Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I can't believe it.....

Lake Ontario Wine Trail's Christmas around the World
December 6 & 7
12noon to 5pm 

Each stop offers a tasting featuring one country. This year I finally decided to represent my home, Japan --- I was not sure what to do with it in the past as we are not a Christian nation. However, we often have a little gathering mainly to spend some time with friends and families on/around Christmas day. So we'll have some chicken dishes that are often served at these occasions paired with our wines. Visit every stop; get a stamp to enter to win a passport for the Trail's future event(s)! Starry Starry Night: Story Slam, Poetry and Star Gazing in 2015

We were asked why we don't have the event in fall as well, so we listened. There will be a local musician joining us with his classical guitar next year. I'm excited about such a wonderful addition to our Nights. We all hope you will be able to come and share what's in your mind with us!

Fall Hydrangea

I usually boast this hydrangea during summertime for its everlasting multicolored blossoms.
However, it had fewer flowers this year only on the south side of the bush that was away from the bitter winter blast. Then this fall its nicely colored foliage stayed there for quite some time until the recent cold snap froze everything. There were even two new flower clusters appeared within the colorful foliage.

Summer 2014 turned out to be rainy and sluggish following the record-breaking harsh winter and cold spring. Then it dried out and warmed up some when September came. Harvest was carried out under mostly favorable weather in October. The first half of November was fairly mild and comfortable without seeing any frost up here.

Though there are only frozen flowers left on the tips of the stalks in the bush now, the memory of fall is still vivid in my mind. So here it is to share with you all.
