AMENDMENT WILL ALLOW FOR MARQUEE TOWER AT CORKRAN
The proposal for a new cell tower at Corkran Middle School in Glen Burnie, MD was delayed when it was determined that the three-legged "marquee" design (see example at left) did not fit the planning code's definition of a monopole.
The project is now back on track due to an amendment by the County Council of Anne Arundel County. The zoning code was amended to include language allowing for different types of cell towers when installations are located on government-owned land. The Council voted 7-0 in support of the amendment, and the project is now slated for construction in mid-December! See other cell tower types.
