Hello and Happy New Year from all of us at Milestone. 2014 was a year of unparalleled growth for our company. The demand for new wireless infrastructure surged as carriers expanded both the coverage and capacity of their networks. We have many accomplishments to report that demonstrate how far we have come! In 2014, we:
- Expanded the number of new locations where towers can be built by 30%, adding a partnership with Dominion Virginia Power, the 7th largest utility company in the country.
- Implemented a comprehensive and transparent community outreach process that provides information and project details for a record number of new tower sites.
- Increased our project, construction and office management capabilities by adding several key team members and implementing new technology.
- Increased accounting, tracking and cost management tools to streamline expense reviews and open up online bidding for our general contractors.
We now find Milestone actively developing 70 new towers and managing over 30 existing assets for our growing list of landowner partners--now numbering over 40 in five states. We could not have accomplished this without the support of a dedicated and motivated team of professionals who have been empowered to make decisions, acting as owners.

A Record Year for New Tower Approvals

The new tower at Keytone Park.

Milestone obtained land use approvals for 30 new towers in 2014: a record number of entitled sites for our company. As with all Milestone tower projects, the entire process includes frequent and transparent communication with community members. Information websites track the progress of each project--from initial proposal to completed installation--providing public safety resources and responding to community concerns. As such, we entitled 100% of the sites we initiated, without one site being withdrawn or deferred due to land use opposition from neighbors.
During the last quarter of 2014, we completed four new tower installations, including Green Valley Academy, our first tower in Prince George's County. We also put into service:
- Center of Applied Technology (CAT) North - Anne Arundel County Schools
- Keytone Park - Prince William County Parks
- Wicomico High School - Wicomico County Schools
All four of these installations take advantage of either Milestone's Tree Pole or Park & Field Concealment solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to their surrounding environments.
