Another Successful Great Park Pursuit!

Another game has come to a close but the memories will last a lifetime. In the end all teams that participated in The Great Park Pursuit Spring Sprint went home winners because they spent time together as a family, traveled to some new and exciting places within their home state, and enjoyed the great outdoors and all it has to offer.

Ultimately 185 families participated in all 5 events and received a 2013 Connecticut State Park and Forest Season Pass.  Be sure to check-out pictures of all the fun and festivities!

While the Spring Sprint has come to an end we do have two summer events to look forward to.  On Saturday, August 10th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm we are hosting our second annual Saltwater Fishing Day at Fort Trumbull State Park in New London.  Activities to include fishing, crabbing, touch tank, and much more.  The following weekend is our annual No Child Left Inside Campout.  This year's campout will be taking place August 17th-18th at Gay City State Park in Hebron.  To register for the campout please contact Rachael Sunny.

DinosaurNature Centers at State Parks and Wildlife Management Areas are Open For Business!

With the official arrival of summer last week, and the end of the school year, we wanted to make Connecticut's families aware of all of the fantastic summer programs our sites have to offer.

Belding Wildlife Management Area - a 282 acre parcel of land in Vernon that provides environmental education programs.  Jane Seymour, the naturalist at Belding, has lined up a terrific summer of kids programs focused on plants, insects, stream life, and nature photography.  For more information please contact Jane Seymour.

Stratton Brook State Park Nature Center - The Nature Center has filled its summer calendar with programs ranging from fishing and wildlife  to scavenger hunts and history.  With daily programs from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm there is sure to be something for everyone!  For more information please call the Nature Center at (860) 651-1091.
