Roundtable on Sustainable Forests Webinar Today!! 
 

As the U.S. Forest Service begins gearing up to produce the National Report on Sustainable Forests-2015, it's time to solicit input from the Roundtable on Sustainable Forests (RSF) and its participants on the Report's content and structure.  The March 20th webinar will take a brief retrospective review on specific aspects of the 2010 National Report, and discuss how to move forward with presentation of the 2015 National Report.  The participant feedback received during the webinar will be used to focus the dialogue during the April 2nd RSF meeting.

 

Content of the Webinar will include:

  • RSF Role & Input in 2003 & 2010 National Reports.
  • Evolution & Continuity of National Reporting on Sustainable Forests & Sustainable Forest Management.
  • National Report on Sustainable Forests in Context of Multiple Reports & Studies.
  • Key Findings in 2003 & 2010 Reports - Consistent Trends.
  • Setting Stage for 2015 National Report.
  • Dialogue on a series of key questions designed to define the RSF role and input to the 2015 National Report.

The 7th Intermountain Native Plant Summit will convene next week (Tuesday and Wednesday, March 26th and 27th).  Please find the final announcement listed below.  IMPORTANT:  included here are instructions for free parking (paid for by the Summit).

 

If you have not already done so, to pre-register, you must send your information in to Dale Nielson by today, March 20.  Otherwise, you will need to register on site.

NAIPSC Short Course and Webinar Series Update
  
February 27. The second half of the 2012-2013 NAIPSC Webinar Series is continuing now through the beginning of May. The first two webinars for 2013 have been on technologies for plant identification and approaches to large-scale restoration. The next webinar, scheduled for March 27  is hosted by Kathy Voth, Livestock for Landscapes, "Training animals to control invasive plants".  Sound interesting? Be sure to check out the entire schedule on the NAIPSC website (http://ipscourse.unl.edu) and find out how to join the NAIPSC Online Community. The NAIPSC Online Community is designed to inform participants who are involved in invasive plant management, research, and/or policy and provide an online venue for sharing resources, ideas, and information. January 9. The 2013 North American Invasive Plant Ecology and Management Short Course (NAIPSC) is now open for registration. Similar to previous years, the 2013 NAIPSC Field Course will include presentations, hands-on workshops, site visits and instructor-led discussion sessions on the latest in invasive plant ecology and management. The NAIPSC Special Session for 2013 is on the topic of biocontrol. Registration can be done either online or by downloading a brochure from the NAIPSC website (http://ipscourse.unl.edu). While there, be sure to check out the new NAIPSC Online Community that features relevant webinars, interesting articles, and opportunities to interact on any topic related to invasive plants. Also new is the Invasive Weed Ecology Program, which has some interesting information and thoughtful insights on invasive plants. The third annual NAIPSC Field Course will be held June 25-27, 2013 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln West Central Research & Extension Center in North Platte, NE. CEU and graduate student credit will be available.
