We received this update a short while ago from our friends at Maccabi World Union (MWU). You can click on the link in the letter from MWU below to see the program in action in a television broadcast in Israel.

We are grateful for the cease-fire and pray that it not only holds but leads to peace. The delivery of the parcels continues as long as there is a need, so hopefully the worldwide support of this important program will continue.

Next week you will be receiving an email from Maccabi USA as we begin to promote a special shirt with the theme "Maccabi USA Stands With Israel," which will sell for $18 (shipping included); all proceeds will go to the MWU Aid Campaign.

From 08:00 this morning there is a cease fire for 72 hours. At 07:55 the Hamas sent 17 rockets to Israel, thanks to the Iron Dome there were no casualties only some damages to houses and open spaces. We all pray that this cease fire will last and that the talks that are taking place in Cairo will be fruitful and that peaceful times will return to our beautiful country.

The Maccabi - Am Israel Chai Campaign

Here's what your Maccabi Movement does: This morning we packed and sent another 750 packages to the units we are assisting. MWU so far delivered 2500 packages of our 3750 commitment; beyond that, we must raise another $50,000 to send 1250 more packages to meet these units' requests in the aftermath when many thousands of soldiers will still be in the field. Simultaneously: (a) We're allocating catering resources and preparing transport and activities to host 1500 children from southern Israel at Kfar Maccabiah; they've spent the last 4 weeks in shelters; (b) We are also in contact with the Ministry of Defense to adopt 'lone soldiers' who have no families in Israel; (c) We are promoting cooperation with the AMCHA Association to assist Holocaust survivors living in Southern Israel.

Maccabi World Union stepped up to help Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers in extreme danger zones through this very difficult time with important practical assistance.
