Greetings!

Our stay in Israel began in early July, with many of our teams traveling to Israel for training camps. It was important to the teams to be able to begin building 'team' right here in Israel.

I am so proud of the ISRAEL CONNECT (IC) program and the impact it has had on all the athletes, coaches and staff. Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, Mike Carter, just told me this afternoon that he learned more about the history and culture of Israel during the IC program than he did during the 13 years he lived here.

After the IC program we started our competitions. I love the intensity of the the competition and the will to win. However, the moment the final whistle blows, what matters more is the great camaraderie between the athletes and the nations.

Camaraderie and team spirit are two important elements of the Maccabiah Experience for all our athletes.  There have been many bonding moments over the last three weeks and all of our athletes will take home lifelong memories.

Before we march into Teddy Stadium tomorrow night for the Closing Ceremony, we will have accomplished our mission of Building Jewish Pride Through Sports.

Ron Carter
President, Maccabi USA
