Greetings!
I have had the opportunity to talk to many of our young athletes and am so glad that they are all telling me what a great experience the ISRAEL CONNECT program has been for them. Some have told me it has been the highlight of their trip. This feedback is tremendous as it validates why we put so much effort into the program - so our kids can connect with each other, athletes from around the world and the State of Israel.
Recently, we had the opportunity to talk with the organizers of the Canada Pre-Camp program, which was modeled after our ISRAEL CONNECT program, and they have seen the same success. It has really become a model for other countries to get their kids connected to each other, their culture and heritage, in advance of the Games.
The Competition has begun and we are aware that their have been some logistical issues. The Games organizers are hard at work on addressing all issues and things will begin to move along more smoothly as we move forward.
We are so excited that our athletes have the opportunity to experience international competition and develop relationships with other athletes from across the globe. I really believe that winning medals becomes secondary to the life-long relationships our athletes are building right now.
This is what the Maccabiah is really about, using sports as a way for Jewish athletes to connect. Connect with each other, their culture, heritage and the beautiful land of Israel.
I look forward to seeing you all on the courts and the fields over the next week.
