Greetings!

Last night, Rabbi Noam Raucher and I led a room filled with hundreds of American Jewish athletes, coaches, volunteers and staff in reciting the Shehecheyanu - a blessing of thanksgiving to God for having brought us to an extraordinary moment and what a moment it was. I shared with them a poem by  Yehuda Amichai called Tourists in which he writes, "Redemption will come only if their guide tells them 'You see that arch from the Roman period? It's not important but next to it, left and down a bit, there sits a man who's bought fruit and vegetables for his family.'" As we begin ISRAEL CONNECT visiting Tel Aviv today and next week places like Jerusalem, Masada and the Dead Sea our task is to connect, not mainly to the places but to the stories of the Jewish People unfolding here, in the restaurants and on the streets the dream of Hatikvah "to be a free people in our land - the land of Zion and Jerusalem."

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Daniel Greyber

The Juniors Girls' Basketball Team has made great strides in their preperation for competing in the Maccabiah at training camp since they arrived. They are  a talented group of young women who are working together to become a cohesive unit. Their bonds of friendship are built around a common goal, to be the best they can be.

The Youth Men's Basketball Team continues to come together both on and off the court. After the fifth day of  training, Coaches Steinmetz and Chadwin both anticipate and look forward to great things.  After visiting some of the sites in Tel Aviv today, the Team hit the beach.
