What Would You Have Bryan Shovel?
No one in New England likes to shovel snow. Yes, you could say its great to be outside in the fresh air. You might also rationalize that it is exercise. After the third or fourth storm it usually gets old.
Try telling that to my 5 year old son, Bryan, who loves to shovel. When the kids have a snow day, he is the first one at our bedside begging to go out and shovel. It's not normal, but I'm not complaining either. So next time the flakes fly, think of Bryan and put these important spots on your shoveling card.
Sidewalks, Walkways and Stairs - Prevents slips and falls. Protects your pride if you are the one taking a terrible fall. Protects your liability if someone else falls and is injured.
Outdoor Vents - Heating systems and dryers that vent on the side of your home should be clear from accumulated snow. Blocked vents can cause dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in your home. Make sure your carbon monoxide detectors are operable.
Hydrants - Seconds count with house fires. Find the closest hydrant to your home and dig it out.
Neighbors - Remember to check in on your elderly neighbors. Take a few minutes to make sure they have a path from the front door to the street or driveway so emergency personnel can get in the home in the event of an emergency
So if you find yourself not having as much fun as Bryan - just remember that pitchers and catchers report in 18 days. Happy Shoveling!!
