Fourth Sunday of Easter
April 2013

At first glance it may seem strange to compare the travels of the Ethiopian eunuch to the disciples' walk to Emmaus. Come worship with us and see how the common elements create a paradigm for every faith journey.

The Berkeley Crop Hunger Walk is this Sunday at 1pm!

prayerPrayers this week

Trusting in the promise that God hears us, we pray for those in need and in thanksgiving for God's awesomeness-sometimes with sighs too deep for words and sometimes with an explosive "Yes!" to God's work in our midst. Please include the following in your prayers this week:
  • Pray for the victims of the bombing on Monday at the Boston Marathon: for those who lost loved ones, were injured, were traumatized, for those who offered assistance in the moment and those who now offer care-physical and emotional.
  • Pray for those places in the world in turmoil, especially Korea, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, where people are pawns in the games their leaders are playing;
  • for those who serve in the US military, and for the families of those who have lost their lives this week: Jarett M. Yoder, 26; Matthew P. Ruffner, 34; Deflin M. Santos Jr, 24; Wilbel A Robles-Santa, 25; Christopher M. Ward, 24.
  • For those who are in need of comfort, healing, relief from pain, rest: Juana, who has suffered a stroke; Herb, who is recovering from surgery; for those suffering from PTSD, brain injury, and other injuries as a result of serving in our country's military
  • For those new to the faith and those who are seeking, that God's Spirit would be their guide
  • For courage to speak up on behalf of the least, the lost, the left out, especially when that one is one's self
  • Pray for God's guidance for the delegates to the ELCA Eastern Washington-Idaho Synod Assembly meeting this week in Boise, Idaho, and for the delegates attending the ELCA Eastern North Dakota Synod Assembly as they begin their work in Jamestown today
  • With thanksgiving for the work of the New Zealand House of Commons as they legalize same-sex marriage
  • For those working for legislation to help curb gun violence
  • For our ministry partners, especially SHARE-El Salvador and the work of their board as they meet at the Chapel this week
