Second Sunday of Easter
April 2013

The disciples on the road to Emmaus know theology and are familiar with the story of Jesus without recognizing his presence among them. Data about Jesus is not enough. Our eyes are opened when we encounter the risen Christ.

prayerPrayers this week

Trusting in the promise that God hears us, we pray for those in need and in thanksgiving for God's awesomeness-sometimes with sighs too deep for words and sometimes with an explosive "Yes!" to God's work in our midst. Please include the following in your prayers this week:

Those whose relationship is strained or broken, that they may find healing peace and know God's presence amidst the struggle

Those facing surgery or recovering from surgery, that relief may be known and healing may be speedy and complete

Those for whom each day is a challenge, because of illness, pain, economic hardship, or mental health issues

Our nation's leaders and budget negotiators that they will be mindful of our need to protect those living in poverty

For the newly baptized and for our new members at the Chapel, that all may encounter God and grow in faith through God's grace

For our confirmation students: Cole, Eva, Gwen, and Helen, and their classmates as they discover together new aspects of their faith

Guidance for those who seek viable employment and those who are pursuing new vocations

In the midst of serious political and economic challenges in the region, pray for the people of North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan, that God's abundant grace may be showered upon them.
