Fifth Sunday in Lent
March 2013

Zacchaeus, a tax collector, is one of the people who has sold out to "the man" (quite literally in this case), and remains outside the in-crowd of the community.

The force of this story is in its irony. Come discover the story anew with us this Sunday!

Please return communion boxes!

Taking communion bread home to loved ones who can't make it to the Sunday eucharist is a great way of sharing in sacrament and community.

We have small containers for this purpose. If you've taken communion home in one of our boxes, please return them to the Chapel so we can continue to reuse them?

We appreciate your help in this matter and look forward to sharing communion with everyone!

prayerPrayers this week

Help. Thanks. Wow. These are the essential prayers. As you pray these prayers each day, please also include these people and situations:

Pray ...

  • for the children in the world's refugee camps. More than half of the Syrians in Jordan's Za'atri camp are under the age of 18.
  • for those experiencing strained or broken relationships, that reconciliation may be known and a new vitality replace the brokenness
  • that those researching a cure for cancer find that cure so that all who now battle cancer might know a cure as well as healing
  • for healing for those recovering from surgery; for those living with chronic pain; for those dealing with mental health issues, that all may know wholeness of mind, body, and spirit

Lift up the many people still suffering from the effects of the economic collapse. May the love of God and the kindness and concern of others help them find joy and stability in their lives.

Hold world church leaders in prayer, especially Bishop Mark Hanson and the people and work of the ELCA in the world and Pope Francis and our Roman Catholic sisters and brothers as a new era opens for the Roman Catholic church
