Fourth Sunday of Advent
|
December 2012
|
|
|
|
|
On this Fourth Sunday of Advent we will celebrate with our annual Adventplay. This year we will see a performance of "Amahl and the Night Visitors' Journey to Bethlehem".
After the service we will decorate the tree together dancing and singing carols around the tree.
The Fair Trade Mercado will be open this Sunday as well as every Sunday until Christmas. Help support our work in El Salvador!

Prayers this week
In all things pray! Please remember these petitions in your daily prayers.
For healing
- For Bob's and Miriam's friend David Johnson who received a bone marrow transplant from his son, Peter, on Dec 12; with thanksgiving that the procedure went well and both David and Peter are recovering well; with hope that David's body will not reject the bone marrow and will begin producing healthy red blood cells soon.
- For Annika's friend Ian, undergoing treatment for recently diagnosed leukemia
- For Pepe's mother Juana Sanchez, who is diagnosed with metastatic cancer, and for Pepe's father Jose who is recovering after heart surgery
- For Arthur, recovering from a viral heart infection, as he returns to work
- For those who struggle with issues of mental health and for their doctors as they work to find the right combination of medication
- For Geri, for Jeff, for Pam, and for Kirsten who continue cancer treatments, and for Ray in hospice care
For those who grieve, especially Steve, Nancy, Rachel and Sara and the Schultz family at the death of Steve's father, for Nan Hirleman (PLTS) and family at the death of her mother For the community of Newtown, Conn., in the aftermath of the shootings there on Friday, for families who lost children, for those who were injured and are now recovering, for the family of the shooter-God have mercy. For Luther Seminary staff, faculty and students following the resignation of CFO Don Lewis and President Rick Bliese; grant wisdom, God, to those who step into this leadership void, especially newly named interim president Richard J. Foss. For those who seek gainful employment and those discerning new vocational paths For the Chapel community as we discern what stewardship means and how it reflects our faith in our extravagantly generous GodFor the children among the 50,000 people in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in northwestern Kenya-and the ELCA World Hunger work in the camp-that the children's dreams of a better life will be realized.

Support Families Together
|
What if the Holy Family was torn apart at Christmas?
This month 2400 people will be deported from California because of ICE's "Secure Communities" program.
The Posada, a Latin American holiday tradition, depicts Mary and Joseph's search for room at the inn in Bethlehem. In this modern day adaptation, we knock at the door of Gov. Brown, saying: Open the door of your heart to immigrant families. Sign the Trust Act (AB 4).
Call Governor Brown at 916-445-2841

The Chapel online in 3D
| The future is here and we are most likely the first church with an online 3D model of our sanctuary. Annika's partner decided to host a free scan for us with the software he is currently developing.
Click on this link to view a draft model. Clicking on "inside view" will make it possible to move around inside of the scan like in a video game.
