Twenty-fourth Sunday after Pentecost
November 2012

Our narrative lectionary calls the book of Jonah simultaneously pathetic and hilarious. Come worship with us this Sunday and hear about the irony of Jonah's journey and the relentlessness of God's compassion.

Prayers this week

In all things pray!  Please remember these petitions in your daily prayers.

Pray with thanksgiving for those who have been influential in your faith life, especially those who are no longer with us

Pray for those elected/reelected to positions of governing that they would lead with wisdom and justice

For all those suffering the effects of Hurricane Sandy, for comfort to the afflicted and strength to those who come to their aid

For the new friends with whom we worship each week, that we may greet them as friends and that they may find a welcoming spirit

For healing for those undergoing cancer treatment, for those enduring pain, for those recovering strength

For open conversations around faith issues in the groups engaging "animate" and for Cole, Eva, Gwen, and Helen, our confirmation students and their classmates, as they explore their faith

November - Month of Remembrance

During the month of November we remember those who have died, especially those most dear to us.

Please bring with you to church framed photos of loved ones to be placed during the month on the altar.

November Green Challenge

This month's Green Challenge is themed "Consumption" and the Green Team came up with a multitude of great ideas.

Sadly we saw the narrow defeat of Proposition 37 this month, which would have required the labeling of GMO foods.

The Consumption Green Challenge offers great responses on how we can be informed and empowered in our buying choices.

Happy Anniversary!

This month Pastor Jeff has been at the Chapel for 13 years. Thank you, Pr. Jeff, for staying with us through all of the ups and downs.

We are hoping we get to share 13+ more years of worship, being at work in the world, radical church furniture re-arrangements, confirmations, weddings, salsa dances, baptisms, conflict resolutions, memorials, celebrations, potlucks with great food,

campus ministries, small groups, luncheons, staff high energy dance parties, and so much more community life.

Happy Anniversary!
