Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost
October 2012

This Sunday we hear about Hannah's desperate prayer, God's answer through the birth of Samuel, and Hannah's response of obedience, which create a whirlwind of activity and inspire a response of praise.

This weekend is Jubilee weekend and we will be praying for those affected by our global financial crisis.

October is also Fair Trade Month. How do you celebrate fair trade? A fair-trade cup of coffee in the morning? A fair-trade chocolate snack for the 2 o'clock blues? A fair-trade cup of tea on a rainy evening?

And there's reason to celebrate: After years of petitioning, Hershey's - long known for child and slave labor sourcing - finally agreed to start sourcing fair-trade by 2020!
